I doubt it. That's mainly forum talks. People that won't buy Xbox product anyway, shape or form say that. My friends that only game on PS platforms say the same thing but they're just talking out of their neck. X1 with Kinect is the right direction to go in my opinion. MS won't be caught off-guard with future console developments. If X1 was Kinectless and didn't englobe much of other media entertainment potential, I would've stuck with 360. |
You said it yourself, the XBO would likely have sold better if it were cheaper. At $400, without Kinect, I think a lot of PS4 buyers would have gone XBO.
I also disagree entirely with a Kinect free X-Box being "forum talk." It was a peripheral which only sold to 1 in 4 X-Box 360 console buyers, it was heaviliy mocked by the media post E3 (along with DRM), and from the people who I know who work in retailers, the feedback I hear is that Kinect is an unwanted peripheral.
Honestly, the system can be played without it, not everyone wants to talk to their TV. Microsoft is tacking on a an extra device in order to make a larger profit, that's all.
Until there is a Kinect free model, I know I'm not getting it, and I think outside of forums, most people think the same.
If XBO was Kinectless you wouldn't get one? Well that's you, I'm the exact opposite. The XBO is primarily a video game console, if you want the premium options with Kinect, be my guest, but I'm pretty sure most people would rather save $100-$150 and just get a video game console with Netflicks.
