The game industry needs Nintendo more than Nintendo needs it. Just wish Nintendo would realize this.

They seemed to realize it with the Wii.. Unforunately, they forgot with the Wii U. Perhaps they will remember again with their next console. I hope so anyway.

When Nintendo tries to go along with what the industry does/wants, both the quality and sales suffer tremendously. When they flip the bird to the industry and go their own way, they end up with phenomenons like the NES and Wii..

Also, Panicnausia: I meant during launch

Totally wrong, the N64, gamecube were totally against what develpers and the industry wanted, and look where it got them.  Third parties started leaving. The wii was a 1 time fad that started fading in 2010.  The game industry was not much of an industry in the NES days, totally different then it is now.

Also how os the wii-u want the industry wanted?? No one wanted an under powered tablet controller game system. PS4 is what devs and the industry wanted.

I find it amazing how people still don't realize the wii was a fad, if wii wasn't a fad the wiiu would be selling just based off hype, like the n64 did for its first year.

At the E3 version of this show he had similiar sentiments. He was saying he wants his 5 year daughter to enjoy Nintendo games but that is just not going to happen unless they put them on mobile or psxbo. These millionaires spend $200-300 on bottle of liqor sometimes but can't afford to buy a $200 device for their kid. How are we suppose to take him seriously.

I don't get it. *shrugs*

mind you when I saw I would liek to enjoy some 3rd party games peopel say get a ps/xbox. No one ever says they should give me the games on my preferred system. So my only option is to buy all three.

So the 3DS and PS3 are irrelevant? They did poorly early on.

They never stopped getting FULL third party support, did they?

Nobody buys Nintendo consoles for the third party games.

the ps3 is out selling wiiu, by 2-3 million in the same time frame, wiiu has a great price and 2 of its biggest console sellers released and a good price while the ps3 was 599$ which was too expensive to sell, and lets not forget the ps3 launched 6 months later in its strongest territory, that's why its first year looks so bad on paper, and to say nobody buys nintendo consoles cause of third party is just silly, if nintedo didn't get all those big third party games like mortal kombate and street fighter during that gen they would have been crushed and if the n64 got strong third party support it would have sold much better, just look at how poorly all nintedo consoles sell with out strong third party, except for the one fad called the wii.

No,it doesn't.

It's still priced outside the low income and casual buyer's range, and Mario is nowhere near the hardware mover Kart or Smash Bros are.

And no matter how many times you try to claim the Wii magically doesn't count, it does.

I never said the wii doesn't count, but just by going trough every console generation, except the 7th gen, every console with out strong third party support sold poorly, and looks to continues going back to the same trend and if you think mario kart and smash are gonna like up the chartz when 2d mario and 3d mario are not doing nothing, it seems people are moving on from mario, its pretty sad.

It is the general rule, yes.
Every rule has its exceptions. (The Wii)

Wow, how unique and original. Yet another negative article and thus another negative thread about Wii U.

I wonder if some of these folks honestly believe they're writing fresh and intelligent material?

the wii was a fad imo, people have completely forgetten about as it never existed, it's succesor the wii u is at a great price, 299,99, with much better games in its first year, hd graphics, and a gamepad controller, yet where is the dedicated fans, you can easily argue, that 249,99 7 years ago =299,99 today.

The Wii lasted a normal console lifespan. A fad would have fizzled out in 2009.
