Why hope it doesn't do that well. It's not Sony's fault at the price, so I don't know why you are wishing bad mojo on Sony for.

Gladly its just a small place
Getting destroyed in Europe and Japan is probably worse.
Someone would gladly trade Brazil for those 2 places.

Yes, it is Sony fault. Wii U is also imported, pays the same taxes, and its price only went up by a 2,5 factor. While PS4 price tag here is 4,3 times bigger.
The fact is, Sony want to sell PS4 for a huge price for the A class here (thats why it has like 4000 units in the country), while they hope middle class will import it. Add to that theeir announcement saying they will not cover the warrant here for imported consoles (although they can be forced by law on this matter).

Sony has not released official figures of the first day of sales in Brazil. But report from Sony Stores, Fnac and Magazine Luiza reveled that they were about to sold out their stocks. More here: http://estadao.br.msn.com/link/vendido-a-rdollar-4-mil-ps4-tem-boa-recepção So after all the consoles get sold out even at absurds R$4k. PS. Just to make a comparison the other news (that PS4 sold 0 here) was posted before the noon... the stores was opened for 2 hours only and people buy things after the work (5pm). Update: Rumors says Sony Brasil have 2000-4000 units available to Brazil... few units if you ask me. |
I disagree Thomaz. A friend of mine is supervisor in Lojas Americanas (the biggest retailer here). He said that the demand for PS4 is pretty low there.
Maybe they sell those 4000 units, but that is as good as nothing.

You can disagree but it is true... I checked today in a lot of stores (FNAC, Fast Shot, Magazine Luizas, etc).
Plus in Sta. Efigência they are selling more PS4 than Xbone too... I bought mine three hours ago (it was the third PS4 to sell today in this store)... Brazilian version with Sony Brazil warranty... Killzone + one Controller... R$2700... Nota Fiscal (inclusive Nota Fiscal Paulista).
There are PS4 European, American, Mexican (these are Gray Market) and Brazilian (official from Sony Brasil)... the difference was the price and the voltage.
BTW Lojas Americana is not even close to be the biggest retailler here lol

Maybe they just want a presense in Brazil even if its small.

Here in Chile a lot of PS4s were sold. My cousin preordered it and we went to get it with him and we tried to buy some games but most of them were unaviable. FIFA 14 was nowhere to be seen and they would only get more copies on monday.
We struggled to find another controller but when we found it we also bought Killzone
Anyway, here the price is much lower than in Brazil(something like $600 I think)

well this is bullshit. the console doesnt deserve to sell at that price and certainly isnt worth the money. i dont know why anyone in brazil would buy it at that price.
