Forums - Sony - Despite the High Price PS4 Had Good Reception in Brazil (PS4 Reception is Even Better in Gray Market... I Checked Myself)

São Paulo - The PlayStation 4 went on sale in the country this Friday (29) at R$4000 [close to $1800]. Despite the high price the unit had good reception, according to retailers.

Sony has not released official figures of the first day of sales in Brazil. But report from Sony Stores, Fnac and Magazine Luiza reveled that they were about to sold out their stocks.

More here: http://estadao.br.msn.com/link/vendido-a-rdollar-4-mil-ps4-tem-boa-recepção

So after all the consoles get sold out even at absurds R$4k.

PS. Just to make a comparison the other news (that PS4 sold 0 here) was posted before the noon... the stores was opened for 2 hours only and people buy things after the work (5pm).

Update: Rumors says Sony Brasil have 2000-4000 units available to Brazil... few units if you ask me.

I was actually hoping it wouldn't do that well in Brazil. The price is criminally high, but I guess that also has to do with the taxes on game consoles.

I am the Playstation Avenger.

Why did Sony even bother?

Should've sent more supplies to US and Europe then later attempt Brazil.

Well 2k-4k units here won't resolve the US/EU situation

Nobody saw I typed Orice instead Price

And I put in the wrong forum too... dammit.

Seems demand was even higher for the PS4 than the criminal price!

$1800! Even in the UK on ebay people are trying their luck selling a PS4 at almost double the price which still only works out at under £700!!!

Well the first batch always sells out, even if it is at a huge price. The real battle will start after the die hard fans have the console, because the more price sensitive public will start considering their options. And I am sure that Brazil has more than 4000 Sony fans.

Here in Colombia the estimates said that they brought 800 to 1000 consoles, and they are easily found in all stores. Too many people here imported the machine during the USA launch and the official price was not so high

As a old brasilian saying.

"Every day a sucker is borne".

Yes, they are sold out, but it was very few units. Grey market has many available.

There are a lot of gray market consoles here (from US for example)... I found some units just walking to get the subway to work... way better prices than Sony official too (~R$2500).

Wow, it's more than a little sad that consumers in Brazil didn't boycott the PS4 out of principal.

If people were to boycott stuff on principle, they wouldn't buy any console. Sony fucked up with PS4 in Brazil and worldwide with Vita mem card prices, Microsoft still doesn't deserve trust after the draconic DRM attempt, Nintendo still fucking up with digital distribution and expensive underpowered hardware.

So, really, we'd need to boycott everyone, all the big 3 make big mistakes too.
