Forums - Gaming - Has anyone here played their XOne/PS4 offline for more than 24h?

I've had the console since November 15th and I've only been on the internet 3 days out of the 14 days I've had the console.

2nd day I had the console I set up my playstation plus and looked around the PSN store for a few minutes.

Last weekend I played 3 games of Madden25 online.

Yesterday I got online and downloaded Resogun and Blacklight Retribution and played Blacklight Retribution for an hour.

Other than those 3 instances I hardly ever game online.

Nope, of course not :)

No.

Please don't tell me this thread is aimed at trying to make it seem like the 24 hour check in was no big deal.

I hope it is :) Because it is not a big deal and the thread is about just proving it...
I was pissed enough about all that so Microsoft removed their Family Sharing I was hoping for just because of this non-sense...

OT: By the way; for any Xbox One owner, something very weird is happening...
I pre-ordered my Xbox One but as my EB-Games did not open before 8AM (...) I had to go visit a friend who pre-ordered it somewhere else and got it at midnight.
I logged with my account on his Xbox One, played with him during the night, etc... Then in the morning went to pick up my baby, plugged it in, bought some online games (Ryse, Forza, Powershot Golf and Dead Rising 3), downloaed them, played them, try to log with a different account (my wife, my kids) and it worked okay (they can play games). Now, my friend called me and he actually COULD play those games on his console too. Checked days later and we are actually able to play games on both consoles... Anyone else noticed that?

Yes. My router's been having issues lately. Once a device is connected the internet works fine, but other than that it's screwed up. My PS4's gone for about 3 days in a row I think without a connection.

Rumor has it that sharing will still be possible for digitally bought titles. MS HAD to remove it for physical sales, otherwise every copy sold could essentially be played by unlimited people... but digital sales can't be resold, and thus the family share is supposed to still be a possibility.

I thought MS got rid of the 24 hour check in?

I liked Microsoft's initial vision. My 360 was always connected and now my Xbox One will be as well. Going completely digital this time too. No more lost or scratched discs for me, plus I don't need more cases cluttering up my place..

People using their consoles with the internet does not prove that 24 hour checkup DRM is no big deal.

One scenario lets you play games with internet and without. The other lets you play games with internet and no games if your internet is out (after a 24-hour period).

As for Family Sharing, they never even detailed what it was and even so, it can still be implemented for digital content without a 24 hour checkup DRM since someone would need to be online to begin with just to access it.

They did.

I believe the point of this thread is to try and say something along the lines of:

"Hey look, people use their consoles with the internet connected. That means having a 24 hour internet check-in DRM policy was no big deal."

No offense to anyone here, but drawing that sort of conclusion from this is absolutely asanine.

Who would want to play offline?
