That doesnt mean the x1 isnt worth having, but this eliminates microsofts possible advantage of being able to undercut the ps4s price in the future...

Indeed, and a very different scenario than last gen. Cell and Blu-Ray made the PS3 much more expensive than the 360, and Microsoft was able to really under price them especially with the arcade(non hard disk) versions(i remember balck friday deals going as low as $150 years ago). That definitely helped to give the 360 the market share it has today.

You're not actually comparing an image with a cover on with one off are you?

The cover is off on the PS4 too, but you can remove as many layers as you want and it still looks like a beautifully designed piece of hardware and not like one where putting the parts togehter seems like an afterthought.
