Forums - Microsoft - Ryse: Son of Rome - the Digital Foundry verdict

I played both Selnor and DF said that Shadown Fall is the most technical graphics impressive from the launch games for both consoles... Ryse is only better in facial animations... everything else is below Shadown Fall... you need to play it to see what is draw distance, enviropment an ligthing.

And like DF said everybody is waiting what the CryEngine 3 can do in 1080p on PS4.

About the first-party games Ryse and Forza are showing the limitations of Xbone... the gap in graphics will increase next year... and I can beat with any Xbone will win the best graphic awards in the press.

Limitations or Limited luanch time?

So DF say Ryse is the best so far, does that mean SF shows PS4 limitations?

Ryse will be bettered 3x over on Xbox One through the generation. To think otherwise is ignorant.

DF noted too that the most jaw dropping scenes in Ryse are pre-rendered... gameplay graphics are far from what are showed in the pre-rendered cutscenes.

Crytek lied about the trailers being realtime.

Nope, there are impressive scenes that are realtime. Most notably, the scene shown at E3.

You can easily tell when a cutscene is occuring because the video quality.

lol at comparing Ryse to Uncharted, completely different league im afraid in fact didnt some reviews say Ryse mechanics seem to date back to previous generations

a game that isnt higher HD or not even running at 30fps and reuses same enemies all over again, ps2/xbox gen game mechanics isnt what i would call a show case spectacle for nex gen

all i see from Ryse is a clunk-fest, its the end of that game its been panned and now is highly likely not to get a sequel

Ps4 is a higher specced machine than Xbox1, so enjoy what ever games you do on Xbox but vsually Ps4 will be pulling ahead and gap will widen permenantly

When that happens come tellme told you so. Until then its 1 -0 Xbox One. Next up QB and Halo 5 vs Infamous, The Order 1886 and possibly UC4 next year.

HMM the fandom is strong in this one.

everybody here is a psychic. You people must really love eating your words.

How can either side claim what game in all of next year will have the best face paint? we don't even know everything thats gonna come out.

Who is handing out this glorious trophy that no fan can touch anyway?

I like you Selnor but you make claims without support... so people trend to belive you are lying.

The bolded part for example... DF didn't said that in any place in the article... what they said "Ryse is a beautiful game and stands as one of the most technically impressive next-generation titles we've seen to date". It is one of the most tecnically impressive next-generation game and it is "the first real technical showpiece on the Xbox One".

I agree with both claim... in graphic terms Ryse is one of most impressives games in the next-gen and by far the best launch game for Xbone... it is a bit of a surprise for me because I expected Forza 5 to hold the crown on Xbone but the downgrades from E3 in Forza 5 was way bigger than Ryse... so it ends up to Ryse shine in the graphic department.

The others two tecnically impressives next-gen games for DF are Killzone and Resogun.

But you left out this

"That said, if you really want a taste of what we can expect from the next generation of consoles, Ryse towers over the rest."

Ripped straight from DF article. They didnt say this about Resogun or Killzone.

Notice it doesnt say what we can expect from Xbox One?

It clearly says from the next generation of consoles. Ryse Towers over the rest.

I think this is the quote being held on to.

"if you really want a taste of what we can expect from the next generation of consoles, Ryse towers over the rest."

Now that may not mean it is "technecally" the most impressive in terms of the behind the scenes do-dads in a game you need special equiptment to pick up on. But it does hint that from a viewer stand point that it's overall the best looking next gen game.  And  thats gatta count for something.

The thing is that I have not heard one person on this site that bought Ryse say that the game is bad or they regret buying it.

I must say I agree 100% but to be honest there is really only 1 person saying this right now and stating it as fact. And I think Selnor is cool as can be but to just COMPLETELY dismiss EVERYTHING on PS4 for next year without even knowing every game that is coming out is just ABSURD.

QB looks GREAT we have NO IDEA what Halo 5 will look like and outside of 4 it has never really been known for graphics but more so gameplay. Both Infamous: SS and The Order looks AMAZING and we have seen gameplay from both. The WItcher 3 will more than likely beat everything else though. It is nothing wrong with being confident but some claims are just crazy.

Anyway On Topic: Congrats to Ryse for being an AMAZING looking game but after playing it I must say it is pretty stale...looks AMAZING though but the gameplay does not match the visuals....which sucks....

The absence of evidence is NOT the evidence of absence...

Yeah I know. People who actually bought the game really enjoyed it. So far I have quite a few mates who didnt buy it due to reviews, have played my copy and is their number 1 choice for borrowing off me when Im finished or are going to buy the game this weekend on payday. I am so glad I chose to buy this game. Its really good.
