Forums - Microsoft - Ryse: Son of Rome - the Digital Foundry verdict

The game looks really good.

The interesting part is about the sharperning upscaller filter... it was easy noted in Killer Instinct, Battlefile 4 and CoD... that not happened in Forza or Ryse... the image gets darker with de scaler too making the overall quality below what expected with a good scaler.

I expect MS to fix that issue with the scaler

BTW in graphic terms Shadown Fall is technical more impressive

I said back in May.

RYSE IS THE BEST LOOKING AND MOST TECHNICALY IMPRESSIVE CONSOLE LAUNCH TITLE ON ANY MACHINE.

Now lets get the graphics awards for consoles out of the way this year. Ryse will clean up.

Then next year I think it will be either Quantum Break or Halo 5. Both release next year. Man I don't know who will take it.

Best console graphics for 2014 could be either 343i or Remedy. Both have amazing talent. And both games will release late in the year.

Xbox One is on fire. Not only has it got the most impressive graphics so far in the face of adversity ( resolutiongate ) But after seeing the clips of Quantum Break gameplay ( looks like high quality CGI ) and knowing what 343i did with Halo 4, First party devs on Xbox One are making everyone look pretty stupid.

No, Ryse looks good because it is on rails linear, has little going on, and is 900 p and less then 30 FPS.

Next year Uncharted, Infamous, Witcher 3 are more likely to be graphics king.

Shadow fall with its huge draw distance and vbaslty more particle effects and higher res and framerate are more impressive then Ryse. Nowhere in this article does it say it is more impressive then shadow fall, in fact it highlights several; short comings.

Digital Foundry dont say something is the best unless its technically the best.

Having played both SF clarity on textures, models and animations is clearly behind Ryse. Uncharted last gen never had people saying yea but its linear.

Rye looks significantly better in many areas over SF. Lighting, textures, models, environments ( yes you have to see Edge Of the World or The King levels. Even Collosium. ) Its amazing from start to finish. Amazing.

I dont thin a PS4 game will win next year either. I believe that first party Microsoft games are using the different architecture properly. Also theres the rumour that first party devs have the more updated dev its and software befroe 3rd parties. Which would help to explain resolutiongate.

Im saying it here and now like I did with Ryse. Quantum Break or Halo 5 will win best graphics next year.

Of cours it is. DF dont call a game best graphics unless it is technically. You have to see Ryse personally. Edge Of the World or The King levels the environments are UNMATCHED. The Kings draw distance is rediculous. The textures, lighting, models, animations and environments are all better in Ryse. After playing both its very clear. Also the rain and weather is also better in Ryse.

I have another friend tonight coming round for the first time. His jaw will hit floor like the rest so far. Its a technical marvel to say the least. Its like watching Gladiator or Spartacus. Its pretty close.

I'm saying it here and now that is a fuckton of bullshit and you're going to eat your words next year, or you would if you didn't conveniently turn a blind eye on everything playstation.

Xbox developers are going to use the different architecture properly...and Playstation developers are too stupid to utilize the Playstation hardware, which is stronger no matter how you spin it, to its fullest? It's mighty fucking arrogant to assume something like this based on 2 launch games.

Also I'm pretty sure I remember you arguing about Crysis 2 being more technically impressive than Killzone 3 because it had larger more open levels, well what happened to that argument?

I played both Selnor and DF said that Shadown Fall is the most technical graphics impressive from the launch games for both consoles... Ryse is only better in facial animations... everything else is below Shadown Fall... you need to play it to see what is draw distance, enviropment an ligthing.

And like DF said everybody is waiting what the CryEngine 3 can do in 1080p on PS4.

About the first-party games Ryse and Forza are showing the limitations of Xbone... the gap in graphics will increase next year... and I can beat with any Xbone will win the best graphic awards in the press.

Having all of the most stunning games along with game of the year/gen contenders come out constantly on the PS3 last gen has clearly deluded some folkes and made them desperate. The fact that Selnor even compared Ryse in the same breathe as Uncharted 2 and claimed he preferred Ryse is pretty messed up.

DF noted too that the most jaw dropping scenes in Ryse are pre-rendered... gameplay graphics are far from what are showed in the pre-rendered cutscenes.

Crytek lied about the trailers being realtime.

People said the same to me when I said it about Ryse. So your comment is nothing new.

lol at comparing Ryse to Uncharted, completely different league im afraid in fact didnt some reviews say Ryse mechanics seem to date back to previous generations

a game that isnt higher HD or not even running at 30fps and reuses same enemies all over again, ps2/xbox gen game mechanics isnt what i would call a show case spectacle for nex gen

all i see from Ryse is a clunk-fest, its the end of that game its been panned and now is highly likely not to get a sequel

Ps4 is a higher specced machine than Xbox1, so enjoy what ever games you do on Xbox but vsually Ps4 will be pulling ahead and gap will widen permenantly
