am i the only one that thinks Killzone 2 actually turned out to look a lot better than it s E3 trailer.

tell me im not crazy, but the e3 footage didnt look that impressive, it looked too cartoony, the gun models looked a lot more like their PS2 counterparts,  the faces and their animations looked fake and like plastic. The smoke and sound effects werent as good, etc. Overall real Killzone 2 looked a lot more impressive graphically speaking.

motorstorm on the other hand wasnt even close, its final version looked way worse.

I think they both look really good.  The actual games does a few things better than the target render, and vice versa.  Yea, Motorstorm looked TOO good to be true in that vid.  I bet the PS4 could handle it, though.

So, what do you think of what MS did with the demos?

well just like the original Kinect and all of its promises and tech demos, the media ate it up and talked about the endless possiblities of fantastical things like having conversations with AI, etc. And when they (kinect, and xbo graphics cababilities) inevitably failed to live up to the endless hype, the media when mute, and talk about the the future possibilities.

We are still waiting on  the possibilities.

ya it is a big lie more then i thought.hell microsoft even got caught using a ps4 for another one of there demos.. (watch dogs)

It doesn't seem to catch on outside of forums and Digital Foundry and we're already a few days into the generation, so I don't think media will give this topic a lot of attention.
And I agree, while "target pre renders" in the like of Watch Dogs reveal, Deep Down probably (although it shapes up good) and couple others from this years E3 like EA games for example with actual games not living up to the standard are shitty practice, having a running hands on for the audience demo that looks better than the end result is way worse.

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

I always hear people mention Killzone 2 E3 2005 vs the final game. I honestly thought the final game looked better. Motorstorm was total bullshit though, they were miles apart.

OT: I don't think Microsoft overpromised with the Xbox One.

No, I don't think Microsoft will get as much flak as Sony from the gaming media. The reason being that the Xbox One reveal already showed that the gaming media was eager to justify Microsoft's decisions, and if they defended that, it's unlikely that they will make a fuss about this.

True.  Just like they went into defense mode when it came out that several multiplats had lower resolution and weren't up to par.  It's one thing to say if you have an Xbox One, you'll be satisfied and quite another to tell people looking to pick up one or the other "that shit don't matter."

One a side note, I honestly hope Nintendo gets its act in gear and comes in 2nd.  Doubt it will happen, but I can still hope.

What I want to know is why the general gaming media, aside from Jim Sterling, decided to try brush it under the carpet. That always bugged me.

You said they didn't overpromise with the fake demos.  I just wanted to know what you would call it.
