You went from a Geforce 7900GT to a Geforce 640. - It's an upgrade in everything except memory bandwidth. (Won't be an issue unless you're trying to push 1080P max quality settings, if you expect that, you bought the wrong card.)
For $100 though? Ripped off. I would have tried to look at a second hand Radeon 58xx series card or a 69xx series card.

I think he could have gotten a better deal with $100.
DDR3 ?! That is whack bro. We all know that GDDR5 memory shits on everything so far in the market.

Well. No arguments from me there about GDDR5 > DDR3 with GPU's.
But, the Geforce 640 isn't really meant for gaming anyway, so the Ram type is really a non-issue in the end.
Heck, I sold my old 6950's that unlock into 6970's for $100 each, which is faster than the PS4's GPU.

For $10 more dollars he could have gotten this from newegg or if he looked hard enough he would have got it for $100 new.
I guess your right about the rest though.

6950/6970's are faster than the 7770 by a large margin. :P
Plus he is in Canada, not sure what their hardware prices are like or if he can buy from the 'egg.

I know that but I think he meant "new" cards and not "used" ones.
He can buy from newegg if he wishes. In fact I'm from there and I can confirm you that the price is $110 for a new 7770 because if you look at the .ca tag it means that it's from a canadian domain.

Ah, so it is! Learn something new everyday!
If you can Op, get a refund, grab a Radeon 7770. :P

I'd recommend the OP get a used card from ebay but if he has some superstition about used cards then I guess an HD 7770 will do for the most part.
Another reason to like AMD is that they don't screw over the low end GPU users with rip off prices.
Yeah not the greatest value for $100. BUT it is a better card than you had previously. To be honest im not sure how you survived with a 7900 for so long!?
Long Live SHIO!
