Forums - PC - Graphics card upgrade, need advice

Hey guys, I have a second hand graphics card in my tower and I wanted to upgrade. At Staples today, I found a Zotac Geforce card to help improve my graphics and computational capabilites.

My current card, I'm not sure exactly what it is but here is some info:

Sticker on the back says: EN7900GTTOP/2DHT/256M/A, then 67C0AG107216

Here is the front end:

Behind the flash is a code: 180-10455-0000-A01, and a green bar-code label with a long code: CS1G672885-00956-C1CHT0-A11 0 0 0

The card I just bought is the:

ZOTAC GT640 2GB 128BIT DDR3

I bought the new card for 100$, is this a good upgrade?

Thanks for the help.

100 Dollar is pretty expenisve for this kind of card. Its definetly not the sweetspot when it comes to cost performance you chose there.

What do you expect from nvidia on the low end market ? They give abysmal price to performance ratio on that front.

Yeah I know this was actually my point.

The only way he can get more performance than a 7770 is to buy second hand or spend more money.

Nothing wrong with the 7770's anyway, they're a great card for 720P and can handle allot of multiplats fine at 1080P.
I would have personally pushed for a 7850 at the very least, but considering the rest of his PC, such an upgrade would essentially be pointless.
