Hi folks. The Xbox One has landed.

So what did you get? And whats your thoughts.

The Hardware

It ssurprisingly light and smaller than you expect from the pictures. It has a really nice cosmetic matt+shine look to it. It looks alot more like a multimedia box/AV Bluray player than a games console. The machine itself even when playing a game and multitasking is very quiet, and does not get hot to the touch at all. The Kinect sensor looks fantastic this time. It also has a mix of shine and matt finish to compiment the console. Then theres the controller. Really impressive to hold. The D-PAD is finally, finally Really good. It has a real decisive click to it, and its surface has a nice shiny surface to it. Perfect for Hadukens. The triggers are even better than the 360's and the new rumble features are much more of a difference than youd imagine.

All in all the hardware is relly quite impressive, with a good build quality.

Games

Ryse : Son Of Rome

Haha. The game people love to hate. I'll be honest here, I really didnt know what to expect especially after the reviews. Firstly the game looks beyond stunning. The texture detail in everything is really impressive. Scenery included. The character models are beyond what Youtube makes them look and the amount of effects being thrown around at times will leave you in awe. This is a launch title that just absolutely will drop your jaw at ALL times through your play.

The game is very cinematic. It knows it is, it wants to be and it clearly delivers on this. If your after a game with more than storytelling cinematic production and combat, this isnt for you. Those who like that will be very pleased. I found the combat actually really involving. Admittedly Im playing my first playthrough on Centurion, so the combat is more intense and harder than I have seen in youtube videos. That is a plus. It flows well, and the enemies do actually work together to attack you. Ive just done Dover and been playing for 2 hours. Thats 3 chapters done with 7 to go. Ive died probably 6 or 7 times.

So far I feel Id be looking at giving the game an 8/10

Operating System

This console is really impressive. Its so quick and slick. Kinect voice works really well. Once you learn the commands it works 95% of the time in my home. Also to point out the TV intergration is absolutely amazing. Snapping in IE whilst watching Sky 1 was just so impressive. The apps are already starting to come out and the Skydrive integration is just amazing. Also whats really impressive is controlling your TV with Kinect. Volume, menu, Turn off and on all available through Voice command.

Anyone who never bothers to use Kinect is being seriosuly juvenile. Its factually much faster to whip around the systems and services with your voice. By a country mile. Then theres the Console recognising the player with the controller. That is wierd. It just instantly recognises who is where and what. Even changing seats trying to confuse it made the Xbox One just laugh at us. Very impressive indeed.

So theres my impessions of the first 4 hours. Just downloading Killer Instinct now. Will update later.

So Far overall     8.8/10

UPDATE: Initial Day 1 update took 5 minutes and 33 seconds to download 507 mb at 45 minutes past Midnight.

Ryse Install did the first 7 or 8% then let me play while the rest installed. Was about 10 minutes.

Im really enjoying Ryse. So glad I picked it up. If you enjoyed Cinematic games from last gen. This game wont disappoint. The graphics really will stop you in your tracks. It looks crazy good sometimes. Really impressive. I love the game so far. And cant wait to get stuck into Gladiator mode. The combats really fun.

your right about the size of the console theve got aset up at my local GAME store, it doesnt look that big or anything its a pretty good looking design

I think Ryse is great. I knew what I was getting. And Im happy. Theres not many bugs at all. And the production is 2nd to none.

I disagree about the size and weight, I thought my box was filled with bricks! More heavy than past consoles for sure. I guess it has Kinect bundled in and everything tho.

Anyway, you can tell the attention to detail, in everything. From packaging to hardware to system OS to game cases. So impressed.

Kinect voice commands works 100% of the time for me so far.

must be exciting for you i hope you enjoy it very much, id be jumping on the next gen bandwagon with you all, but due to unforseen circumstances i had to cancel preorders

Been having a quick go with it as it arrived a few hours ago. Really like it so far. Being able to jump back and forth from game to tv/music etc is epic. As soon as it works with Sky I can see me using that rather then the sky box. For the price I was a bit annoyed to begin with but it is clear it isn't just a games machine. It is an entertainment machine that also plays games. And having used it I can safely say it is money well spent.

So far, so good, smooth, easy pretty.

I see I have to learn a few new voice commands. So far though Kinect picks me up just fine.

I was surprised at the weight of the box in came in, and the console didn't seem heavy at all. It's the power supply (a little smaller than my slim one), but the Kinect itself is one heavy piece for it's size.

As far as heat, the Kinect gave off some, and the main unit produces a little. I say less than half to a quarter of the heat my slim does.

I *love* the new little logo light on the Kinect. It look a bit like a glowing ball with the X. Sexy, sexy for an electronic.
