The problem with the OP's theory, is that even if it IS Sonic Adventure 3, it wouldn't matter much. Unless people have forgotten, SA2 wasn't all that hot, and to be honest, while fun, SA1 had it's issues as well. There really never had been a GREAT 3D Sonic title, they've all had issues of some kind, and honestly I think it's a case of there are some franchises that just do not work that well in 3D. Mega Man, Contra, Castlevania (IMO), and Sonic being another one.
If it is SA3, great, hope they do a better job on it than Lost World. Problem is, Lost World initially looked really creative and cool, it LOOKED like it was going to be a really good exclusive, and even still some people apparently enjoy it. But the general consensus is it's kind of a mess. And that's because Sega just....isn't the Sega of old anymore. A lot of the talent that made their classic games great, is gone. That's why most of the 3D Sonic games, 3D Shinobi, that bullshit "Golden Axe" game they put out, etc., just aren't that good.
What would be better, in my personal opinion, would be to have Sumo Digital work on a Mario/Sonic or even Nintendo/Sega crossover game of some kind, most likely a racer akin to what they've already done. At least those Sonic racing games are fun, they play well, etc. And people would be a lot more excited, I think, for a Mario/Sonic crossover that ISN'T a shoddy Olympics game, than they would for a Sonic Adventure 3 that has a strong likelihood of not being all that great.
Me personally, at least, I'd like to see that. And I know, Mario Kart 8 is coming next year already. But fuck it. People would buy it if it was Sonic and Mario (or Sega and Nintendo) characters, and to make it different, hell, make it more like Diddy Kong Racing while they're at it. It'd be good, because Sumo Digital are good, and it'd sell like hotcakes.
