True, this is Nintendelay we're talking about after all. Monolith Soft's X getting pushed back to 2015 would not surprise me.

I think Zelda in 2014 is too optimistic, they haven't even announced it oficially, not even a teaser of the teaser.

Wii U changes

Switch Luigi's Mansion with an unannounced game, switch Bayonetta 2 and Yarn Yoshi, Switch SMT x Fire Emblem, Wii Sports U, and Zelda with unannounced games.

3DS changes

Take out Advance Wars 3D, Metroid 3D, and Super Mario 3D Land 2 and switch them with unannounced games that make sense.

January-Nothing, but there will be a MAJOR Nintendo Direct like this past year with new trailers for Smash Bros, Mario Kart, and X, and updates on SMT X FE and Yarn Yoshi.

February-Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (Wii U), Bravely Default (3DS) and Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy (3DS)

March-Mario Kart 8 (Wii U) at the very end of the month? Kirby: Triple Deluxe (3DS) because it's coming out in January in Japan so could easily be ready?

April-Mario Kart 8 (Wii U) if not in March. Otherwise possibly Bayonetta 2, the 3rd Sonic game or nothing. Yoshi's New Island (3DS)-Announcement of Year of Yoshi.

May-Bayonetta 2 or the 3rd Sonic game (Wii U). Mario Golf: World Tour (3DS)

June-Possibly nothing for either if they just focus on E3. Zelda Wii U will be shown off but will be slated for 2015. X, Smash Bros., and Yarn Yoshi slated for 2nd half of 2014. SMT X FE shown with a tentative 2014 release date but may not be released until 2015. A Metroid game for Wii U or 3DS will be shown off for the first time.

July-Wii Sports Club retail version (Wii U), Professor Layton VS. Ace Attorney (3DS)?

August-Bayonetta 2 (Wii U) could release in August if Nintendo feels confident that the combo of Mario Kart 8/Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze will sustain Wii U momentum for a couple months. Super Smash Bros. (3DS) because Sakurai hinted that they may not release simultaneously and that stuff you do in the 3DS version can be transferred/carried into the Wii U version. They won't want to distract ANYTHING from Wii U's single biggest hardcore-gamer draw in 2014.

September-Yarn Yoshi (Wii U)

October-X (Wii U), Pokemon Z (3DS)

November-Super Smash Bros. (Wii U), Metroid (3DS)?

I believe some other games are probably in the works that will be announced and sprinkled throughout the year, especially for 3DS. I'm confident Zelda (Wii U) will wind up being a holiday 2015 title, and I'm guessing that SMT X FE will most likely not release until the first half of 2015.

Do you think they'll release Pokemon Z next year? Both Platinum and Emerald were released two years after the original games, I think something similar will happen with Pokemon Z or they could even release a sequel like they did with Black/White.

I think it's possible. It really depends on how many other unannounced 3DS games Nintendo has up their sleeves for next year. If they don't have enough to keep a steady stream then I think Pokemon Z would be fairly easy for them to just "upgrade/alter" the content from X/Y a bit and use Z to "fill in a gap" if needed. Either that or maybe the Ruby/Sapphire remakes people have been waiting for?

Your logic is based on misconceptions and opinion. You have restricted your description, now, to just FIVE previous instances. And even with that restriction, you're wrong.

Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire were released in Japan in November 2002. Fire Red and Leaf Green were then released in January of 2004 - a mere 14 months later. What's 14 months after October 2013? That's right, December 2014. And they were able to fit Emerald into 2004 as well.

But more importantly, Pokemon Gold and Silver were released in Japan in November 1999... and then Pokemon Crystal was released in Japan in December 2000. Which makes it an example of a third installment coming out in the following calendar year, and just 13 months later to boot.

So even by your own reasoning, it is not impossible by any means for another mainline Pokemon game to be released in 2014.
