Forums - Sales - Sony sells 1m PS3s in UK (faster than PS2)

I think it's likely the 1 million Sony is referring to with regard to PS2, PS3 and 360 sales are all sold to retailers or based on Chart Track data.

I think it's likely sony is reffering to the PS2 and 360 as chart track sold to customers numbers from and PS3 as sold to retailers.

As that's what sony does.

Most likely not even directly and just did one of there stealth comma jobs, which keeps getting taken out of proportion int he game of telephone the blogosphere loves to pull.

Usually this would be true, but considering the MCV article confirmed that the numbers are at supposedly at least higher than the current estimate for the PS3 numbers at least.

It's just as likely that the 360 is being over tracked.

I disagree. Hence the "telephone" thing I mentioned early. The numbers quoted by chart track were likely part of the Sony PR release. It wouldn't be the first time that it was claimed the numbers came from source, when they didn't and some other source actually released them.

Hey, Im just refering to what chart-track said about the PS3 outselling the 360 during the past 4 weeks (all pointing towards January).

That's what i mean. I read the same thing. To me it looks likely they took that number and used it as saying that chart track was saying that was the case for all of them.

Then again it might not be that surprising. Since I'm fairly certain PS2 was severly supply constrained around it's UK launch date. To the point of where they had half as many consoles then they expected due to component shortages.

I guess we'll see have to see what ioi does. If anything is changed, it will probably be a slight PS3 increase or slight 360 decrease.

“It has been outselling 360 for the last four weeks, but they were neck and neck over the Christmas period, weeks 49-52,” said ChartTrack director Dorian Bloch.

ChartTrack said that 360 and PS3 where selling the same amounts in December and that PS3 outsold 360 in January. So there's a gap of up to 100k that ioi has to fix.
