You know I don't think Sony or Microsoft care about sold to consumers. I mean eventually they do, but they make their money from retailers, so for making money what matters is sold to retailers and not to consumers.

so it's clear that ps3 is undertracked in UK. I'm not sure if it has reached 1 million now but it has to be near at least. And the data about selling more in january and the same in december...

Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.

 

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far

VGChartz seems to have been way off...


 Do you find that surprising ?

 PS3 is undertracke in Europe while sales for others like India dont even count on here.

that 500K sold in india report was FAKE....& it meant PS2 not Ps3

Excellent observation guys. Sony's announcement seems fully reliable to me with this confirmation and is referring to sold to consumers.

ok but do you see any numbers for PS3 from those regions ? what about asia a very populous place where sony is a very popular brand and they have the infastructure to sale the PS3 them selfs.

I dunno if India is being counted....but I know from sources there that Ps3 is doing better than 360 by a handful, despite not being modded..

PSP trumps DS there....but wii rules the roost
