That is a scary number. Bloody hell, wonder if it will sell well the next few months!

this is all that matter to those saying those sales aren't strong lol

yeah we remember what happened....we got a beast of a system which didnt die before the generation ended.
ps3 got the most AAA exclusives and the most new exclusive AAA IP's.

Uhm, no it hasn't, that would have to be at least 400,000 defective consoles, a few hundred dead PS4's from amazon is dead far from that number. |
No, no. You have to understand social media can never be wrong! For example this 1 million sold by the PS4 in 1 day is nothing compared to the 80M done by the PS3 in 7 years. You have to keep things into perspective.

That's unbelievable. Looking back at the GC and XBox, they all had fantastic first weeks but didn't manage to sell that well (though they did do decent in America). Those are ridiculous numbers for the PS4 though, will the hype continue? That's the question. It's launch window is not great so will be interesting to see how the public respond.
I doubt we will hear from sony again this month ...
they are too busy counting the money the ps4 makes.
but I doubt they can continue to have those numbers, just because they can't produce that many unfortunately.
They sold like what ? 1-2months worth of production in nearly 24h ?

unless canada somehow managed to sell 500K units in the first day then this also applies to usa. |
Actually Carlos Slim Helú bought 90% of the consoles in NA
When you think my english is bad...sorry for my bad english, i'm from Germany. And yeees, sorry, that we've almost destroyed the whole world, blahblahblah
I contributed to both of the sales numbers listed in this topic, but I'm wondering how Sony will maintain momentum?
What games do they have coming in the near future? I haven't seen anything other than The Order: 1886, that is gonna be that interesting for the next 6 months or so and even that game won't be ready in 6 months. I don't count the multiplatform titles, because those aren't console sellers. I like the console and love the DS4 controller, but am having a hard time finding the PS4 "innovative" or even worthy of large sales numbers right now, I don't think the XB1 will do any better at the start(and I hope it flops harder than the Wii U did in it's first year, I had a 360 and I enjoyed it but MS has given a big middle finger to all gaming fans), but I would like to see more game announcements from Sony and Nintendo. I'm not really surprised by these numbers at all, the Wii U had no "new" games released for it in its first 8 months of life and that's sad, because the console is fun. I'm hoping that Sony will start pumping out some gems in the very near future, otherwise, I feel, I will have another console that I have to tread water with until some good games are released... I'm looking at you Wii U! Games is what I want, not the ability to watch Stupid sports events on my "gaming console". Gaming Console = Games first, then other media applications!

PS4 may have a bit of a barren Jan-Feburary 2014, but after that it looks like pretty smooth sailing. inFamous: Second Son in March and then a lot of third party support will start to kick in (Watch Dogs, Destiny, etc.).
When you have third party support, but not only that but are the lead platform for many developers -- it makes a huge, huge difference.
