Seriously?? Did Wii really sell this little? |
im really sure that graph is really really wrong. also for some of these number they are first week sales, not first month

Incredible, now lets see if it can sustain these record sales or drop into irrelivancy ala Wii U

I thought it was first week sales vs first day sales of PS4 but just noticed the top and spit my coffe out.
| Rustynail said: The PS4 hasn't got many positive reviews, a lot of games have been delayed for it, there's simply nothing interesting to play on it at launch, no games that already aren't availble on the last gen, no backwards compatibility, it's faulty buggy and crappy. That's why Sony rushed the console to release it before the Xbox One. Most PS4s just don't turn on, when you play it for more than an hour, read the costomer reviews on the internet. Unlike others, Microsoft learned their lesson from the RROD, and If it wasn't for the original Xbox you wouldn't have played Battlefield, Call of Duty and maybe not even Assasin's Creed on your PS4. You should be grateful for what Microsoft did with the Xbox. I've been an Xbox gamer from day 1. |
1 Million North American residents would appear to disagree. ;)
Microsoft actually seemed to just follow on from what SEGA had already established with the Dreamcast. Western games were already increasingly gaining importance on consoles before Xbox. Quake III Arena and Unreal Tournament were playable online on the Dreamcast. Half Life was ported to Dreamcast (unreleased due to Sega discontinuing the system) and PS2.
Call of Duty was already on consoles before the Xbox 360 launched. Again it was a natural trend that was occurring at that time. I don't really see what point you are making.

But we have to say that never before a console had such a huge media attention with only positive news, ps4 is all over the internet and the gaming audience also increased.
Still impressive, indeed.

Nintendo couldn't meet demand with the Wii. It was still sold out everywhere 3-4 months after launch.
The console was coming after the Gamecube (itself coming after the N64) so Nintendo didn't expect such a success and consequently didn't produce enough units.
Pre-ordering wasn't as popular back then so Nintendo didn't have as many tools to gauge consumers' interest.
