659 1 star rated PS4 on Amazon (Across all bundles).
1000000 PS4 sold.
If Amazon does happen to be an isolated incident then failure rate = .066% failure rate.
I would say the humongous sales are why we have so many threads popping up regarding unlucky customers will DOA consoles.
iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.
Currently playing:
Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Ok. Then records can be not so breaking or even not the records at all by the end of the year...
| Rustynail said: The PS4 hasn't got many positive reviews, a lot of games have been delayed for it, there's simply nothing interesting to play on it at launch, no games that already aren't availble on the last gen, no backwards compatibility, it's faulty buggy and crappy. That's why Sony rushed the console to release it before the Xbox One. Most PS4s just don't turn on, when you play it for more than an hour, read the costomer reviews on the internet. Unlike others, Microsoft learned their lesson from the RROD, and If it wasn't for the original Xbox you wouldn't have played Battlefield, Call of Duty and maybe not even Assasin's Creed on your PS4. You should be grateful for what Microsoft did with the Xbox. I've been an Xbox gamer from day 1. |
1 million SOLD ...
The PS5 Exists.

That's what you've been trying to say all along i see. Well, it's good you've got it out of your system i guess.
Anyways back on topic;
This is just amazing. I wonder in which upcoming generation the PS4's record will be broken. Video gaming sure has come a long way!

Thank you. You clearly replace pokoko as top-provider of cool anime-gifs. |
Come to think of it, I think it was pokoko that showed me the light.

Microsoft actually seemed to just follow on from what SEGA had already established with the Dreamcast. Western games were already increasingly gaining importance on consoles before Xbox. Quake III Arena and Unreal Tournament were playable online on the Dreamcast. Half Life was ported to Dreamcast (unreleased due to Sega discontinuing the system) and PS2. Call of Duty was already on consoles before the Xbox 360 launched. Again it was a natural trend that was occurring at that time. I don't really see what point you are making. |
But it wasn't as successfully pulled off on the Dremcast like on the Xbox. Sega had to shut it down after like 1 year. Microsoft revolutionized the FPS genre on consoles and with the launch of the original Xbox they made the west more important to the industry, it opened the door for a number of studios to start making games on consoles that otherwise would have stuck to PC development. Before the Xbox, many western game publishers like Bethesda would have stuck to PC development.
Sure... Naughty Dog just got by on 7th gen... owww wait. they developed Crash Bandicoot for the PS1, and are an American developer.
