Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Can Nintendo pump out 1 Wii U exclusive per month in 2014 ?

Guess it's about preferences. Personally, I wouldn't describe PS4's 2014 lineup as lackluster. Besides all the smaller games like The Witness, Transistor, Trials Fusion, Child of Light and Rime these games release in 2014:

Deep Down

Driveclub

Infamous: Second Son

PlanetSide 2

The Order 1886

Don't know the release dates of Uncharted 4, Santa Monica's and Media Molecule's new IP.

That's how your list looks if you count out the multiplats. This is a thread about the coming exclusives =)

Sonic: Lost World got dreadful reviews.... Sega only have themselves to blame. That game probably as legs though.... over the holiday should manage to sell at least 250k world wide. It's already on pace to outsell Rayman Legends.

Your right the right kind of exclusive can sell consoles for months.... Mario 3d World and Mario Kart 8.......then you got Super Smash, Bayonetta 2, Donkey Kong  for more hardcore gamers.

Ubisoft is still the best 3rd party support... hopefully Watch dog does good on WiiU.

I think their biggest problem is going to be people like me. Although I have a Wii U, and will suck up any decent release they put out for it. Multi platform titles I'll be getting on PS4, Watchdogs included.

But Smash Bros really shifted GCs, I don't doubt t has the ability to do the same for Wii Us.

No self respecting gamer should get Watchdogs on WiiU if they own a PS4 or Xbox One. But success on WiiU is only like 250K sales.

Typical "hardcore" mentality. "My taste is games is right, yours is wrong!!!1"

What if some people want to try the game using the gamepad?

I'm going to get either an Xbone or PS4, but I think I'll be getting Watch Dogs on Wii U.

They could do it but January has normally been a pretty dry month for games. Everyone buys them up in December and it takes a few weeks for them to get through them all.
I would count on one in January but from Feb forward its possible.

HAHA everyone here assume it's a given that no title will come out in January... maybe they should have a big Eshop promotion in January. Or a big Eshop game.

lol what game could possibly come out in January then?

a port of Bayonetta 1 would of been nice.

So you yourself don't have any idea what could release in January, yet you would laugh at others for assuming January wont bring the Wii U anything (because there's nothing to bring). I think we are the ones who should be laughing here, at YOU!

I just said no one expect a January release.... myself included. Read prior post. I'm expecting some Eshop sales promotion.... discounted games...

Maybe about 10 a year will suffice. That list however in many ways show how one dimensional Nintendo games are.
Leave out Bayonetta and X and what have you got? (Referring to exclusives).

However for Nintendo fans that list is good and with the way things are going for the wii u hopefully they will bring many of those fans back.

The heck are you talking about!? They're all of varying genre's. Platformer, Racing, Fighter, RPG, Action/Adventure, etc. Or what they're all the same now just because they're made by the same company, lol?

1: No, keep your shirt (or skirt) on. Maybe one dimensional was not quite what i meant. My apologizes, too much wine earlier. What i mean is that they have the same cartoony look and gameplay. The same characters keep popping up, DK is in three of those games etc. If that offends you, sorry. It is what it is and it's Nintendo. I like their games.

2: But, are these types of games dying out on home consoles and will most likely have a longer and more fruitful life on the 3DS? Is the reason the wii u is selling so badly is because people are losing interest in these type of cartoony games? This time next year all will be answered.

3: The last bit has absolutely nothing to do with this thread it is just a thought that crossed my mind while i was looking at the list.

1: Are you saying there's something bad about this? Who wouldn't expect all games in a franchise/series to be similar? That's why they're a franchise/series lol! I beleve more people would be pissed off than happy if you completely changed what a franchise was all about, especially if it's just for the sake of being different.

2: Hard to say anything about the games when they're not out yet. Only majorly selling series on Wii U so far is NSMB, but NSMB2 releasing a couple months prior hurt NSMBU's system selling potential, and it's still the only big seller game on the system. No matter how big a game is, it wont be selling very many consoles by itself. Now I know there are other games like Pikmin 3 n such, but titles like those mainly serve to maintain momentum, but due to that nasty drought, the Wii U lost all momentum. I believe it's gonna take another major release to kickstart the Wii U, and SM3DW plus the holiday season should hopefully do that. Then with the 1 exclusive per month thing in 2014, which has major sellers in DKCTF, MK8, SSB4, and ZeldaU, then support titles in between each release like Bayo 2, X, and so ons, momentum from the holidays and SM3DW should be maintained, and the baseline should increase after each major release. Of course that's all just what I expect/hope will happen. If Wii U still sells like crap after all that, then yes it is officially doomed and not even the most insane of fanboys will be able to say otherwise.

3: And yeah I'm not really mad or anything lol.

Whats funny is history shows that to be true for any platform yet you act like you know better than everyone else and completely disregard the past.

Games will be released but not big games. Even on PS4 the big games do not release til Febuary.

I should explain the title of the thread is can Nintendo pump out 1 Wii U exclusive per month in 2014 ?

I'm laughing at the fact that we already know nothing is coming out in January..... therefore, the answer to the thread is no, but everyone answering is already making the assumption that January doesn't count and nintendo doesn't need to have a release in that month.

Oh, we all are being silly then. :L
Though I'm sure Nintendo could of released DKCTF in January if they really wanted to, it's just that February is better I guess.

January 2014 release is probably simply 2013 backlog of games..... anyone with a WiiU probably doesn't own all 2013 release Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, Mario 3d World, Sonic lost world, COD ghosts, Wind Waker HD, Just dance 2014, Skylanders Swap force, Deus Ex Director's Cut, Batman: Arkham Origins, Wii U Party, AC4, Wii Fit U, MArio & Sonic Winter Olympic, Splinter Cell Blacklist, Disney Infinity.... That's over 15 games.

Actually ins't the retail release of Wii Fit U just got delayed to January?

lol again? Just wow...
Well it looks like that 1 exclusive every month thing could be reality afterall!

How the hell does this game keep getting delayed? Wasnt it originally a launch window game?

Yes it was! xD
Though the digital version has been released already. But yeah, these delays have to stop right NOW!!! They really can't afford to push back anymore games as 2014 is basically make or break time for Wii U. All those titles I listed need to happen even if they have to pull devs from other teams, namely 3DS ones as that system can afford a few delays.
