Forums - Sony Discussion - Amazon Customer Reviews for PS4 - Trolls or serious issues?

I couldn't help but laugh after reading the second review when he said

"Thought I was doing the smart thing of pre-ordering the system"

Pre-ordering is never the smart thing with console launches... It's the out of your F'en mind thing...

So either amazon dropped a palette of PS4s and didn't tell anyone or Sony has a RROD problem of their own.

The fact that there were other confirmed DOA units already reported 2 days ago and acknowledged by Sony seems to indicate to me that this is real. Suddenly Sony's profit margins don't look so good anymore.

Hopefully it's a more contained issue than it seems. You never know on the internet....things can get blown out of proportion. I have seen a lot of complaints, and even a friend of mine who bought one has had his break apparently, but we won't really know if this is a serious widespread issue until the system has been out for a couple of weeks

I checked a large majority out, 99% of them seem legit.

Guess I was lucky then if these reviews are true lol played mine 9 hours straight today no problems.. took maybe 1 hour of trying to get signed into my psn profile but that's about it.

(BF4 Bundle)

All amazon verified. Troubling

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

I am really shocked, so I just had to create an account to post here. Here is why I am so shocked and disappointed: I can confirm that when I checked amazon.com approx. 10 hours ago the PlayStation 4: Launch Edition had at that time about 250 reviews with over 200 5 star reviews! Overall the product had 4.8 stars! Again: 4.8 stars at about 250 reviews with a very very small number of 1 star reviews. Now, where do the 200 1 star reviews suddenly come from? Literally within just a few hours? While some of those 1 star reviews may be true, a high amount of them is there in order to distort the overall impression of the PS4. Amazon must investigate this issue.

lmao the damage control is real

Seem that thare are people with verified reviews having trouble.. but since now people are just giving 5 stars review just to counter those 1 star... it's gonna be chaos.. we should only look at the verified reviews..

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

Ok, my two cents. Do I doubt that most of these reviews are real? No. Do I think this already implies there is a huge problem with hardware failures? No.

The thing is new consumer electronics always have a certain failrate, it was the same with every past generation of consoles. Difference today is how easy it is to let the world know that your console failed. Everyone has an amazon account or a video camera to make a youtube video about it.

Also the 50% spread kinda makes sense, the console isn't even 2 days old, so the only people that already reviewed the thing are the extremely happy fan(boy)s who give nothing but 5 stars and the guys with the failed consoles and both these sites should be taken with a grain of salt. So I would wait a couple weeks before passing judgement

actually PS4 is very cheap compare to lots of smartphones but people still expecting too much from it just because its new, that's why gets disappointed when it didn't perform up to their expectation, and I don't know what they are expecting from a $399 cheap console...
