Forums - Gaming - Who cares about launch title reviews?

I don't care about it but when people from the Sony camp come to the wiiU's launch line up reviews and whine about how mediocre some of the wiiU game's reviews got back at launch only to have ps4's launch game's reviews get equally bad or worse in terms of knack and Killzone... Than I do care cause now its revenge time

"Who said KZ:SF was going to be the greatest game ever made?"

No one, but no other 2013 release was more hyped on VGC this year than that Killzone game on PS4.

Yes, convince yourself. Remember: The PS4 is gonna be the saviour, the best console ever!!

I don't. I won't buy a console at launch. Too expensive and not enough games. Plus the hardware tweaks you get later on, like the 3DSXL.

Fans of other consoles always care a lot about a console's launch reviews. Trust a Nintendo fan on this.

Actually, based on the "Most Wanted" data for the first 11 months of the year, most hyped title was The Last of Us. It came out halfway through the year, but there was a LOT of hype for it. And Killzone isn't even the most anticipated PS4 game. That would be FF15. Killzone came in 12th place overall, just below Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, and 3rd place of PS4 games, behind Infamous: Second Son.

Still, it WAS the most anticipated PS4 launch title, by far.

I could see why it would be important for people who are buying it at launch, but we need to use perspective here. The PS3 had a pretty terrible launch lineup (especially going against the rest of the 06 holiday games), but it ended up having one of the greatest libraries ever. We just got one of the best exclusives of the generation (The Last of Us) and one of the best multiplatforms (GTA5). The PS4's launch lineup may not be spectacular, but I'm confident it will have a fantastic library by the end of its lifespan. So there's really nothing to worry about.

I said hype for 2013 game release, not anticipation for closetonextdecade game. FF15 will be a 2018 release (my estimation).

Admitted, TLOU is the only game which topped the perceived KZPS4 gamingforumshypescore for 2013. TLOU was hyped before but imo even more AFTER its release because some PS3 owners AND most reviewers loved it to death, and after release some TLOU fans created threads to celebrate each new outstanding score. TLOU would never have sold more than 3 million copies if the review scores weren't as good as they are. The TLOU post-release hype actually proves the point this thread hopes to disapprove: People may like it or not, but quite a few die-hard gamers actually DO care very much about review scores of anticipated games (no matter if launch title or not), i.e. it wouldn't surprise me if the - for today's bloated industry blockbuster game standards - lukewarm KZPS4 metascore will cause the post-release hype/appreciation to die down much quicker than the one for TLOU.

Another example: If Beyond: Two Souls had a metascore of 91 instead of 71, it would probably have sold 2 or 3 times as much as it will. Mediocre metascore hurt the sales and decreased post-release discussions (especially in comparison to Heavy Rain which was discussed for months post-release), a high metascore would without a doubt have increased the sales numbers.

People are tired of resolution threads yet we have been reading about those for weeks.

This has only been going on for about 10hours.

So which is worst?

Because the internet is filled with dumb people who don't shut up about things. Trust me I'm just as tired of hearing about it, but only brought that up in my thread because M$ (like Sony) doesn't really have MUCH to show for when it comes to launch title exclusives. That's why there's more pre-orders for the multi-plat games. I'm teling you right now, Ryse and DR3 won't score that high.

How can they make the best exclusive games ever as a launch title? When is the last time a console actually launched with A+++ titles?

Ok. Let me further explain myself. First red flag I saw was that you knocked the X1 unreviewed launch titles. Defense mechanism......elevating your stance at the cost of lowering the rivals. This has nothign to do with X1 but you brought it up. First sign you are insecure.

Second is that you are following in the cliche path of fans on all sides when a game wither scores great or "flops". Case in point.....Last of Us. Untold amounts of signatures of people listing its X amount of perfect scores, or its overall meta average. When a game scores below expectations, KZ being the most recent example, we see threads like yours. Fans unhappy with the result and try to justify its reality (like you using "it is just a launch title") card.

Third is that the news is relatively new (like what, a couple days now?). You are allready "tired". Even though there have been literally months of framerate/graphics comparisons that have been done to death. You clearly don't mind those since they generally favour PS4 but this fresh bit of news that comes across as a Sony fan loss......you got real tired real fast didn't you ;)

I am full expecting some X1 games to flop, but that is ok. We should rise above that stuff. If I can show one person thelight, I shall earn my wings.... lol
