Thanks for the compliment! Sorry I can't come out eloquently enough for you. Have a good day and hopefully you find somebody as smart as you to exchange opinions. |
Sorry you take it like that. But you compared games that have completely different play styles. Fighters have detail differences between each other. You mention the 3D plane for Soul Calibur as a defining difference between it and KI. But you probably know full well that the gameplay in SC isn't centered around that 3D plane. The action takes place on a 2D plane. Unlike games like Power Stone or Thrill Kill (if you've ever managed to play that game) where the actual focus IS on that 3D plane and where positioning is often key to strategies. It doesn't serve only to sidestep and dodge blows... -__-

They have rabbit foot syndrome. Look at it this way, before sony arrived gaming was getting more and MORE popular anyway (any arcade all over the world would be testiment to that) 3D gaming was about to boom anyway thanks to SEGA and the Virtua Fighter series. Bottom line______________ is, sony get far more credit than they actually deserve, THEY GOT LUCKY. Hence they are reality stars in my eyes, not A list celebrities like Atari, Nintendo, SEGA, Capcom, Namco, Konami, Taito and many more. |
And yet, the Saturn which came out before the PS1 failed miserably. They got lucky but somehow Nintendo and Sega didn't? What gives? At the end of the day, Sony has the top 2 best selling games on the PS1, created the Crash and Spyro series and made FF the brand that it is worldwide.

How did Sony make the FF brand that it is WW? It was huge already on SNES. Dont get me wrong, i kno which are the best selling but dont alot of people love the original 3 or 4 games?

Motorstorm sold abysmally at launch. But it saw a massive sales boost in 2007, probably due to these... http://www.gamefaqs.com/ps3/928393-motorstorm/images/box-109240 - http://www.gamefaqs.com/ps3/928393-motorstorm/images/box-109239 Motorstorm: Pacific Rim performed much better at launch, but still modest sales. According to VGChartz it took about 2 years to break a million units. Motorstorm: Apocalypse was a flop. It didn't break 400K. |
You're still not providing me with any numbers to back your claims.
Also, using Apocalypse as an example? Really? That game was unlucky to be scheduled to be released when the tsunami and the Christchurch earthquake hit. It was delayed several times and when finally released, released without any advertising because of the sensitive nature of the content at the time.
As for Pacific Rift, it sold 1M in about a month:

Wrong, it was big in Japan, selling 2.62M (but Square charts show that that includes the PS1). FF6 only sold 860,000 in the west - as of the 31st of March 2003, which means that worldwide, it wasn't that big.

SEGA and Nintendo did not have the financial muscle to compete with sony dude.
If there was no sony, do you honestly think that those gamers from the 80's (who would have been reaching teens/late teens by the time sony came on the scene) would have suddenly neglected gaming?
As i said, gaming was about to BOOM anyway in the 90's, sony just happened to be in the wrong place at the right time grrrrrrrrrrr.
Also, you talk about crash and spyro? were thay THAT popular considering that ps1 sold 100+ million?
Sonic games sold millions on a console that only sold like 35 million. (and data was harder to track back then)

Why did you ask me questions if you already have excuses? Just tell me your ridiculous excuses and we move from there.
I bet that 1M was sold to stores, not consumers. That's the figure Sony always gives to publications.
Yes, I use Apocalypse as an example. It was a game in the series that sold horribly at launch and continued to sell horribly over time. That shows how little of a following the series had.
It sounds like you want to know the exact number of bundles. Instead, I want to play stupid and ignore bundles even happened. So the Motorstorm series went from selling nearly 4 million units to less than 400K after three PS3 releases, pretty amazing stuff.

So, you're saying that Nintendo wasn't making good profits back then?
I think that if there was no Sony, the market would be much smaller today.
Yes, Crash and Spyro were very popular.
Sonic games released on consoles with barely any other IPs to compete with but I have to ask - are you including the bundle Sonic The Hedgehog game in that bundle? Also, correct me if I'm wrong but Sonic is a Japanese game.

Providing factual, official numbers = making excuses? Okkaayyy...
Next time if you don't want to be proven wrong, don't make things up.
You're still going on about your bundles but refuse to provide sources for your information. Again, you shouldn't make things up.
