I think this one came to me just now...

Is it... Little Samson?

(if so, that is one hell of a rare game to have)

Hint for #34:

This wonderful RPG blends golden-age Final Fantasy and Zelda gameplay to great effect.

Golden Sun? (Zelda like Dungeons, "Golden Age", Turn based RPG)

Bingo. I love Golden Sun. The battle system has a lot in common with FFVI, and using magic spells like action/adventure tools an obvious design decision that most other RPGs don't use for some reason.

If the intro wasn't so long and dull, I'd probably put Golden Sun in my top 25.

I would have said that this game was a Zelda/Final Fantasy/Pokemon mix maybe? While Dijin can be summoned like summons in an FF game, collecting them, and setting them up for battle kinda felt like Pokemon. Still those dungeons definatly have that Zelda/Nintendo Puzzle charm.

I really loved this game and the sequel. Never played Dark Days, but it's on my TDL

BTW, I've always loved these games because I feel the difficulty was spot on. I beat the boss of both games after draining my Dijin, using up all my mana, mana recovoring items, and healing items, and then finishing the 99,999 health boss with a basic attack which deals about 100 damage. LOL, both times, was a magical experience.

I find the Djinn system to be a close relative to FFVI's Esper system, but I see where you're coming from with the Pokemon comparison.

When you have all the Djinn, the game can be easily won through decent strategic planning (and patience). No late-game grind required. No early-game grind required, either, come to think of it. Beating the game with low-level characters is quite doable. Heck, if there wasn't so much text, I'd feel compelled to do all-djinn speedruns of Golden Sun.

I love TLA as well (so challenging and rewarding, with an arguably better soundtrack), but I didn't love Dark Dawn. It isn't bad, but I consider it to be the weakest entry. I was probably disappointed at how easy it was compared to TLA. :/

I've never actually played any of the Donkey Kong Country games by Rare. Should probably rectify that one of these days. They're all available on the Wii's Virtual Console, right?

Brilliant soundtracks, though. Especially DKC2.

You got it. Bramble Blast is one tough nut to crack. @_@

And yep, it was actually through the Virtual Console that I got to play Diddy's Kong Quest for the first time.

#39 - This game never localized, despite strong sales from this newly localized franchise. Because of this, the next game in the series is often given credit for introducing new features (like creating a character after yourself) despite this game being the one to do so.

Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem?

#35

'Resident Evil: Revelations'

for the 3DS released in 2012.

EDIT: I accidentally erased my description for this game when copying the format to my new post for my #34 entry >.<

#34 Hint

Stupidly erased hint.

I'm still behind

#45 - An underappreciated fighter published by Sony. This game is super fun because you can impale people with stuff you break.

#44 - One of the most expensive games on eBay, more expensive then Earthbound. It's similar to MegaMan

45 - It seems nobody else knows PS1 fighters and I only know their names so... Tobal no. 1, Bushido Blade or Bloody Roar. With my luck it won't be any of them.

44 - Wild guess: Metal Slug.

Hint for number 34.

This origin story reboot takes gameplay from many well known and highly rated franchise and uses them extremely well.

Tomb Raider 2013?  If it is that game was amazing.

I actually didn't like the Tomb Raider reboot.  This was already guessed though so I'll copy/paste my reply.

Nope.  You could say that Tomb Raider took the open world style of the Assassin's Creed games and update its gunplay system to what we see on current games, but that's it.  The reboot in question has taken ideas dealing with gameplay from three seperate franchises/games.

Ninja Gaiden?

36. Shadow of the Colossus (PS2, remade in HD as part of ICO/SotC package on PS3)

This is typically held up as a prime example when people start describing games as an art form and it's pretty easy to see why. Unlike a lot of arty style media, this also had the bonus of being an entertaining game. The simple concept of a game filled with epic boss fights in a wonderfully unique environment just plain works, but the real beauty of the game comes in the subtle ways the game invokes emotional responses from the player, from the expressions on the colossi to the way Agro responds as if riding a real horse.

Hint for 34: TAKE IT BACK, according to the general.

BRING IT BACK, according to the fans.

No, but combat is similar.  Stylish action style.  Also remember, combined gameplay taken from three different highly rated titles/franchises.
