Nintendo isn't interested in skilled gamers. Iwata basically just said so himself. If you're a skilled core gamer, according to him, you probably shouldn't be looking to Nintendo anymore for your gaming fix unless you don't mind easy games without much challenge.

I guess New Super Luigi U, Kid Icarus Uprising, Wonderful101 and Fire Emblem: Awakening have been a dream then. Got it.

Hey, Iwata is the one who said that Nintendo isn't after skilled gamers, not me. But out of those games you mentioned, which one was hard? I have played them, and none of them would I describe as "hard". Super Meat Boy? Beating THAT, is hard. The first Contra without the Konami code? Now THAT'S hard. New Super Luigi? For a child of the 80's, who grew up on the original NES titles, it's a cake walk.

Nintendo is after first time players and kids these days. That's why Iwata said what he said. They want all of their games to be as accessible as possible.

Play Fire Emblem Awakening on Lunatic, W101 on hard and Kid Icarus Uprising on 9.0 and then come back and tell me with a straight face those games weren't hard.

Did the first Kid Icarus has a difficulty setting? Metroid? Zelda? Mario? Contra?Ninja Gaiden 1-3? Because I'm pretty sure having to cheaply impliment a difficulty setting is basically saying that the "normal" mode is too easy.

Knock it off, it's obvious you're not interested in a serious discussion. Kid Icarus Uprising's way of handling difficulty is widely regarded as one of the best in the industry and both Fire Emblem and W101 actually do more than lazily buffing enemies to increase the difficulty. Besides, both of those games already are pretty difficult on Normal, especially Fire Emblem since it has perma-death.

Arguing in bad faith is bad, mmkay?

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

But, his farts are so delicious Mr. Mackey...

I 100%'d 3D Land in 20 hours. Unlike every other 3D Mario, which I didn't even care enough to 100%. Heck, I didn't even beat Sunshine, now that I think of it...

So, the same length as Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 if you rush, which this guy says he did.

Sunshine also is the only mainline Mario game released after Mario64 that I didn't beat. This will be a very unpopular opinion, but F.L.U.D.D. was a shitty gameplay mechanic that destroyed any enjoyment of SM Sunshine for me. The best parts of the game were the jumping sequences without F.L.U.D.D. I didn't ask for Super Mario: Community Service edition >:{

I only think I hated about F.L.U.D.D. was having to spray goop off of things. The nozzles were fun to mess with, even at the price of traditional platforming.

Now, I do think the level design was weak at points, and there's a ton of irritating shines. Those killed the game for me eventually, although I had fun using the Turbo Nozzle around the plaza.

Wow, what an ignorant fool you are.

Super Mario Sunshine isn't a mainline Mario game.

That's what I'm trying to convince myself of. So far without success :(

Even as a kid I could beat Super Mario Bros. in under 20 mins using a few warp pipes. Still an amazing game.

Even if it was "only" 8 hours. Surely 8 amazing hours are better than 20 mediocre hours?

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.
