I'm getting more and more disoppointed in next gen graphics.

How can this be? Most games are made on last gen engines or at least they look so (Battelfield 4), and yet they cant run 1080p.

I think we were simply spoiled current gen.

I mean, last launch were offered beasts that cost twice the retail price to produce...

Spot on. They were truly beastly machines.

When current gen launched it was amazing graphics. Oblivion, Gears of War, DMC4 looked almost unbelievable compared to PS2 games. This time multiplats look like current gen, only with sharper textures. And sometimes they're not even in a higher res, they're not even 1080p.

I do think The Division and some other games look very very good (and it remains to be seen how it looks on console once it's out in the shops), but in general I feel like next gen games are graphically on par with graphics on fairly cheap PCs.

Does it really have more stuff going on? Have you seen the amount of character models Dead Rising has to push? It is night and day. And are you going to tell me that DICE got more out of the X1 than an exclusive dev has, especially this early in the game?

The bolded goes for my point, not against it. Don't confuse my comment for an attack on the XBONE. If anything I'm attacking this game's performance. It shouldn't be doing this badly, especially for an exclusive.

But, is it fair to say it A. shouldn't be doing this "badly" and B. is something that could have been helped? Who knows what went on behind the secenes? It's a launch game and, like the PS3, needs a little more time for the devs to become comfortable with it so they can truly flex their (and the system's) muscles.

Besides, what's so wrong with a stable 30fps in 720p if the game is enjoyable and gets its message across? I am the first one to tell you that I prefer 1080p/60fps+, but all of the variables above should be considered, no?

You're really taking my comments the wrong way. OK?

I agree totally with the bolded.  These systems are underpowered.  The real problem for both systems longevity is that the tablet/phone market has been doubling or tripling their power every year or less.  If these consoles are going to last 7+ years, smartphones will have eclipsed them by then.  This generation will be much shorter(4-5 yrs) due to the way under powered systems.  Even the PS4 is too weak.  What is more than likely to happen is that game designers/publishers will limit their games dramatically in 2-3 years because they won't want to waste resources for just the PC market.  3-4 years from now, there will be a number of tablets with processors and GPU's that rival the XB1/PS4.  Where will that leave the consoles?  Why buy a console when the same games will be playable from a tablet that you can take anywhere?  Sony/M$ didn't build this next gen with future proof in mind at all.

It is near the end of the end....

Awesome.

Looks like the game is alot of fun.

Ryse is already technically the graphics king this year.

But Im impressed with DR3 visuals to. Especially when 100's of Zombies onscreen.

Day 1.

Diversity is key to a great lineup.

Im not getting 1 shooter at launch at all.

But thankfully (depending on who you are) the control schemes on tablets and phones don't suit hardcore gaming well. Which should mean that home consoles have a chance to compete even in the long run.

It's an interesting theory though, that this upcoming gen might be shorter than past gens. I almost hope so already.

I shouldn't complain since I'm not a graphics whore, I'm a gameplay guy, but I just can't help to be disappointed by the graphics and underpower of PS4/Xbone.

Still the X1 game I want to play first especially since the final car roster in Forza 5 is somewhat disappointing.

Dead Rising is an open world game doing far more than any of the aforementioned titles, that's what. It is also a laucnh title on a system that needs a little getting used to.

Frankly, I don't see what's bugging people about it, so much.

I'm only talking about xbox one games, so it doesn't matter that the system is new or not. Battlefield 4 multiplayer with tons of stuff going on is still twice the frame rate of DR3 while looking better.

Does it really have more stuff going on? Have you seen the amount of character models Dead Rising has to push? It is night and day. And are you going to tell me that DICE got more out of the X1 than an exclusive dev has, especially this early in the game?

@Bold

Actually yeah.

DICE probably got more out of the X1. I'm not kidding here! Battlefield is a massive AAA game after all so it would only make sense for them to get more out of the system because they have the man power and resources to do it. Just because capcom is getting help from some microsoft engineers won't change the fact that they won't be able to match up to what DICE is able to do with a massive team of programmers. What might even surprise you even more is that they probably already have a hold of how to utilize the esram seeing as how the rest of the X1 parts are mainly PC but don't quote me on this.

That didn't match BF4's grpahics, OK. That makes sense, since Dead Rising has much more happening. And no, I don't believe DICE got more out of the system. I belive, as mentioned, their game is doing a lot less. It's telling, then, that Dead Rising still matches BF4's res.

We know it isn't the X1's fault, if we go just by visuals, as Ryse stomps all over BF4 on the X1.

I know that more is happening with dead rising 3 but what the developers don't get is that if you can't interact with zombies from a far away distance then don't bother rendering them! The developers need to use their resources alot better than to put 1000 zombies at once on the screen because we all know that players won't be able to kill that much immediately and that is a waste of processing power. I'm all for dead rising 3 lowering the amount of character models to get a stable framrate and better graphics. My arguement isn't about who's doing more or whatever and plus I've taken into account that dead rising is doing more. I know it ain't the X1's fault by I'd rather pin the blame on the developers poor choice on game design that is doing this.

I still think that DICE has a better grasp at the X1 than capcom does because they have a bigger team of software engineers. Remebmer when DICE was developing BF3 for the PS360 ? Despite the fact that the 360 was easier to program DICE had enough resources to pull off a better version on the PS3. When you use an insane amount of resources for development the results do show quite often times! I'll take massive resources for development rather than better expertise at using the hardware. That is why alot of indie games fail to match AAA game graphics even when they know the system in and out.
