Look at the launch games for Wii U and then look at games released this year/future releases (Pikmin 3,SM3DWs, Bayonetta 2, X). Sometimes it takes time to utilize the hardware and I honestly would not be too worried.

Id rather have a game that has thousands of zombies on the screen than a 1080p game pushing only 40.
Im not that interested in dead rising but so far its the blockbuster game that uses raw power to enhance gameplay experiences and thats what next-gen should be about.

Out of all the resolutiongate games, this is the worst offender.

COD and B4 are also 720p, but they're at 60fps.

Killer Instinct is exclusive and 720p but again it's still 60fps.

Ryse is exclusive and 30fps, but it's 900p and at least looks pretty great.

DR3 is exclusive yet it has the worst frame rate and resolution out of all the launch games, and relatively doesn't even look that good. What the heck happened?

 

EDT: Fanboys be fanboys. I'm adding this so that more people don't jump to attack this post and defend the XBONE. I'M NOT SAYING ANYTHING NEGATIVE ABOUT THE XBONE'S POWER. I'M NOT SAYING ANYTHING ABOUT XBONE VS PS4. I'M NOT SAYING ANYTHING ABOUT THE XBONE BEING HARD TO DEVELOP FOR. I'M POINTING OUT THAT DR3 HAS THE WORST RESOLUTION AND FRAMERATE ON THE SYSTEM AND I'M QUESTIONING WHY THAT HAPPENED.

Dead Rising is an open world game doing far more than any of the aforementioned titles, that's what. It is also a laucnh title on a system that needs a little getting used to. 

Frankly, I don't see what's bugging people about it, so much.

I'm only talking about xbox one games, so it doesn't matter that the system is new or not. Battlefield 4 multiplayer with tons of stuff going on is still twice the frame rate of DR3 while looking better.

That, and as someone a few posts above pointed out, the developer chose to go this route to ensure they could bring you their vision (in the time allotted).

Battlefield may have tons of stuff going on, but isnt the same level as dead rising.  Do realize how much effort it takes to have a thousand freaking zombies on screen at once?  It is also an open world sandbox type of game.  They really arent comparable

Man what happened to quality gaming journalism. I love how they gloss over potential next gen game changers for the genre (huge open world, thousands of zombies) to focus on the fact that oh noes!!!! it's only 720p. Jesus.

Does it really have more stuff going on? Have you seen the amount of character models Dead Rising has to push? It is night and day. And are you going to tell me that DICE got more out of the X1 than an exclusive dev has, especially this early in the game?

The bolded goes for my point, not against it. Don't confuse my comment for an attack on the XBONE. If anything I'm attacking this game's performance. It shouldn't be doing this badly, especially for an exclusive.
