Forums - Gaming - It is official, Xbox 360 has outsold PS3 worldwide

All I see is anX360 fan's thread, eager to claim victory of his console of choice. After a month, or so, a thread of the opposite "side" will come, triumphantly trumpeting the "official" domination of another guy's console of choice.

It is possible that that new thread will come due to the existence of this one and feelings of revenge and comeback urging to be expressed. As is possible that such is the case with this one.

I'll only keep the opinion of a friend some posts above: we've never had competitors so close to each other. Competition at its finest. And as an old gaming proverb says: "The true winner of competition is the gamer".

Competition is good. #Dealwithit

If this was near maybe march or april, my jimmies would be rustled.

We are mere weeks away from the new gen to officially begin. Does anybody still give a flying fuck about 2nd and 3rd place? Besides, the Wii wonthis gen either way. No denying that.

Well, this is a deperate interpretation. In actuality, this is probably Sony just confirming, like many Xbox fans demanded, that the PS3 has outsold the 360. MS used the word "reached," which mostly likely means they rounded up, seeing their shipments from just 2 weeks prior was only 79.4M. They have probably just reached the actual 80M, now.

Here, Sony uses the words "over 80M." I think in the past Sony has had .5 or higher and still rounded down. I could be wrong on that, so I'm going to guess its most likely ~80.4M. So, they may not be quite as far apart as VGC has them, but I would bet the PS3 is ahead.

Well, actually the statement from Sony says "reached" aswell...

It doesn't matter either way, these companies don't sit in their offices getting morning VGChartz sales reports trying to be the #1 selling console for list warz on the Internets. All they care about are profits and market power and all 3 did a fabulous job this gen.

Though it does make me chuckle thinking of all the times we have been bombarded with comments about how PS3 overtook the 360 and it turns out we might actually be into next gen for both successors before it really happens.

So Vgchartz is wrong yet again? Why do you people keep bothering with this site.

I think i was the only one of the sony side who thought vgc overcompensated for the ps3 undertracking last year. Someone said that ps2 had to ship over 5mil last FY but i think the problem is the assumption Sony stopped shipping ps2s. The report was botched and it wad my understanding that it was discontinued in some countries but not all.

However, it was obvious MS rounded up and announced 80mil prematurely. I doubt MS shipped 600k before they announced 80mil because that would mean more than 1.2mil in Oct alone. Thats just insane considering that Nov and Dec will sell more than Oct by a good amount. That would probably be an increase YoY when the systems been in a decline. Im not willing to acceptthat

So, ps3 and 360 are pretty much tied in shipments and most likely sales.

The issue is a lot of us considered PS3 shipments already surpassed X360 earlier this year (let's say after Q2) and now it proved us totally wrong. X360 still enjoyed a small lead till 30th of October.

I am expecting a huge adjustment in VGC history again. LOL at the numbers...

Yes VGC must adjustment both consoles at 80 million...

Call Of Duty and Battlefield will sell a lot of Xbox 360's this holiday. Xbox 360 really is the most popular console.

LOL the only thing desperate here is you, man even when they announce this weeks after Xbox you still can't admit the truth. If they overtook 360 they would have said.

Why do I bother, you'll never believe anything to the contry despite what evidence is put in front of you.
