Wrong again. From 17th of October to 2nd of November isn't 1 month.

Also, they shipped 600,000 X360s from 30th of September to the 17th of October. Looks like MS rounded up somewhere.

It doesnt matter. We have the the 80 Million number from Microsoft before we have the 80 Million number from Sony.

3rd place. Last. PS3 didnt win the console war.

Next week we can post that it did??? If we go by 2 weeks of difference to achieve 80M and how much MS have sold in 2 weeks, Sony would be able to make that difference in less than 1 Month.

Possibly more impressive, or even best turnaround. Or most longevity... But "won"? No. It did not sell the most.

Now, English isn't my first language but can you say "it did" when the action is still ongoing?

Yes, I can. And I just did. It's not reaching the Wii's 100 million units.

Now watch your tone before I backhand you.

Looks like English isn't your first language too. I wonder what makes you think it won't reach 100M though.

You're talking as if the race is over. How many the race where the winner is determined by who runs the furthest be determined when one of the racers is still going strong?

It seems to me that you're afraid that the PS3 will end up first.

You can if you want, but it wont make it right. We all thought going by VGChartz numbers that the PS3 passed the 360 a long time ago yet here we are today with the foot in the mouth.

With these things, when the numbers are so close, its simply better to wait for the shipment numbers. The day Sony announce numbers higher than anything we have from Microsoft around the same time frame then we can say it outsold the 360. Until that day its all gonna be an assumption.

Edit -

The race isnt over, the race wont be over for a long time. It doesnt really matter though, because the thread/article is saying that the PS3 has won the console war. Its saying the PS3 has outsold the 360. Its not saying the PS3 will win the console war, its saying it already has (despite saying its sold less than Wii lol).

The facts we have right now say the PS3 is sitting in 3rd place, behind the 360 and behind the Wii. Even when it does pass the 360, because it will, it still wont have won anything. Passing the Wii is a totally different story, but then again there is no guarantee that it will pass Wii.

What gives you the impression that Im afraid PS3 will end up 1st? Why would I be afraid?

Well you may have it as Thanks giving or Christma's gift... or you really believe it won't outsell Xbox360 during this calendar year??

People keep ignoring Nintendo....Nintendo won the console war in the 7th gen. DS outsold the PSP nearly 2:1 and the Wii outsold the PS3/360 by 25% (likely to drop a bit).

Sony and Microsoft are just fighting for 2nd place, but IMO Sony won. People are using the excuse that "sales don't count after a console has been replaced" to justify weak 360 sales over the last 3 years. In reality, the PS3 caught up to the 360 in overall sales with 1 year less on the market, it's still getting 1st party exclusives, and it's looking to make a sizable lead on the 360.

MS is last, but barely. Still a huge improvement from the 25 million XB1 consoles sold in the 6th gen.

I agree with this man. Sony had more experience, more IPs and an arguably better HD console on the technical department. Even with one year of sales missing, and too much arrogance the first years, they were bound to at least grab a giant marketshare. They ended up second. Microsoft, on the other hand, increased incredibly their amount of consoles sold, even if they ended up third. They successfully managed to be a huge roadblock in Sony's path of dominance.

So all three wins, really. Nintendo's console amassed the biggest amount of marketshare. No one has surpassed Wii's record yet, and I think no one won't (On the seventh gen at least).

Well....Sony did f up the most. That PS2 dominated, and PS3 only edged second.

Also I just want to point out that the 360 is definatly 3rd. RRoD was 33% on first gen consoles, and sure MS extended the warrenty to 3 years, but that doesn't mean that people didn't have to get a new console in 4 years. Trust me, I sent my 360 to MS a dozen times, only once did they replace it with a working console. Can you believe they actually sent me a different broken console to replace my broken console? I think MS fudged the reliability issue with the extended warrenty, I had to make a long whole call to get them to accept that my system broke, and send me a new one to replace it, and even then that console broke in a year. Thank God I had an extended warrenty at Best buy, managed to pick up a more reliable HDMI model which still works today....barely.

So even if replacement consoles only account for even 1 million systems....that still solidly puts PS3 in second. Everyone argueing is making an excuse, I mean the idea that sales after 2 weeks from now don't matter is ridiculous considering that both PS3 and 360 are getting exclusives in 2014, some first party.

---

Still Nintendo is undoubtly the winner. 1st overall sales, biggest improvement from last gen, Wii pretty much saved Nintendo in the home console market.

Vote for the March Most Wanted / February Results

There should be a poll for this thread. Although respected fanbases would just vote for their preferred company. I predict Nintendo coming in 1st, Sony 2nd, and Microsoft 3rd for votes.  Nintendo would win the poll due to Nintendo and some Microsoft fans voting for Nintendo which would outweigh the Sony fanbase.
