People keep ignoring Nintendo....Nintendo won the console war in the 7th gen. DS outsold the PSP nearly 2:1 and the Wii outsold the PS3/360 by 25% (likely to drop a bit).

Sony and Microsoft are just fighting for 2nd place, but IMO Sony won. People are using the excuse that "sales don't count after a console has been replaced" to justify weak 360 sales over the last 3 years. In reality, the PS3 caught up to the 360 in overall sales with 1 year less on the market, it's still getting 1st party exclusives, and it's looking to make a sizable lead on the 360.

MS is last, but barely. Still a huge improvement from the 25 million XB1 consoles sold in the 6th gen.

I agree with this man. Sony had more experience, more IPs and an arguably better HD console on the technical department. Even with one year of sales missing, and too much arrogance the first years, they were bound to at least grab a giant marketshare. They ended up second. Microsoft, on the other hand, increased incredibly their amount of consoles sold, even if they ended up third. They successfully managed to be a huge roadblock in Sony's path of dominance.

So all three wins, really. Nintendo's console amassed the biggest amount of marketshare. No one has surpassed Wii's record yet, and I think no one won't (On the seventh gen at least).

Well....Sony did f up the most. That PS2 dominated, and PS3 only edged second.

Also I just want to point out that the 360 is definatly 3rd. RRoD was 33% on first gen consoles, and sure MS extended the warrenty to 3 years, but that doesn't mean that people didn't have to get a new console in 4 years. Trust me, I sent my 360 to MS a dozen times, only once did they replace it with a working console. Can you believe they actually sent me a different broken console to replace my broken console? I think MS fudged the reliability issue with the extended warrenty, I had to make a long whole call to get them to accept that my system broke, and send me a new one to replace it, and even then that console broke in a year. Thank God I had an extended warrenty at Best buy, managed to pick up a more reliable HDMI model which still works today....barely.

So even if replacement consoles only account for even 1 million systems....that still solidly puts PS3 in second. Everyone argueing is making an excuse, I mean the idea that sales after 2 weeks from now don't matter is ridiculous considering that both PS3 and 360 are getting exclusives in 2014, some first party.

Still Nintendo is undoubtly the winner. 1st overall sales, biggest improvement from last gen, Wii pretty much saved Nintendo in the home console market.
