I really admire Iwata for this, and for his remarks on relationships with third parties. Nintendo might not be as popular with consumers as Microsoft and Sony, but I really do believe they conduct business better than their competitors.

For everybody's sake, I sure hope the PS4 & XBone do revitalise the industry.
It sure doesn't look likely at the moment.
Unfortunately I think Nintendo may be on the verge of finding out the hard way that the family market has really gone elsewhere and also that the PS3/360 appeal to families just as much if not moreso by being cheaper, having more games, and having more $20 games.
There are always a ton of PS3/360 LEGO Star Wars/Harry Potter/LOTR/Batman etc. etc. for $20 every time I walk into a Best Buy.
But we'll see what Wii Party U/Wii Fit U/Wii Sports Club/Mario & Sonic Olympics can accomplish. If that family/casual audience is still there it's time to see big results, not just moderate surges.
The PS4 and Xbone will energise the market.
However the WiiU wont be a part of it.

?? Really? The numbers sure seem to indicate they will, at least PS4.

Unfortunate, but true.
Nintendo will not dissappear, they will become a multi-plat publisher before the end of this generation...
It is near the end of the end....

Last year when WiiU was coming out to very limited hype Jack Tretton had nothing but positives to say about WiiU he maintained that a rising tide lifts all ships

I'll take that bet.

You don't think that Nintendo will end up publishing any of the IP's to other formats in the next 5-7 years? That's what multiplat means. In their latest earnings call, they indicated they are trying to avoid it, but DID NOT say they wouldn't do it.
