Can't you always uninstall a game and reinstall it later on even when the consoles are long past being supported?  But I agree with you and will not buy a PS4 or X1 until they upgrade the HDDs.  Also another question, doesn't opening the PS4 and replacing the HDD void your warrenty?

Yes you cna uninstall/reinstall, but these are supposedly some huge installs which would take 5+ hours. I doubt replacing the PS4/s HDD will void the warrenty (it didn't with the PS3).

They are not installs you have to wait for. The system caches the data as you play.

I'm pretty sure it actually did with the PS3, I had to open my PS3 to clean the lense and to open it you have to remove this sticker and when you do that the printing VOID VOID VOID appears stuck on your PS3.

You did something else. Changing the HDD does NOT require one to remove the sticker you're talking about. Seriously, just look up a quick youtube video.

Not for the hard drive.  To get at the hardrive you just need to unscrew some things and pop it out.  That sticker you are talking about is if you actually want to open up the shell of the system.

How do I know?  I've done both.

PS3: https://support.us.playstation.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/362

"Upgrading the HDD will not void the warranty, however, the consumer takes full responsibility when upgrading the HDD."

PS4: http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/10/30/ps4-the-ultimate-faq-north-america/

"PS4 is equipped with a 5400 RPM SATA II hard drive. Users can choose to install a new hard drive so long as it complies with these standards, is no thicker than 9.5mm, and is larger than 160GB."

If the PS4 is like the PS3, you don't have to open it to replace the drive. Just unscrew one screw and remove the drive with the support, change it, reinsert the support and screw it again.

They definitely should have made the drives at least 1 terabyte. We have been shorted again...

1 TB?? That's about $50 if not more added to the price.

I don't have a problem with any of the above, but I'm curious as to where the HDD bay on the PS4 is...

..and I'm a little surprised that there's some guys on this forum who assumed upgrading the PS3 HDD voided your warranty, come on, this has been encouraged since day 1 by Sony themselves, it wasn't really until games like MGS4, Fallout 3, Yakuza 3 etc. mandated installations and required 60GB early adopters to level up.

The mistake you are making in comparison is that the HDD prices at retail or online.  When they but them 10 million or 20 million at a crack, the prices are much different.  With that said, the price would be higher by at least $25.  I would gladly pay another $25 to get a hard drive that will not be too small 3-6 months after launch.

I don't collect games,so no problem for me.
