Nintendo news of 02/06/2014: Seems as OfficerRaichu dissappeared

  • Media Create: Last week was a great hold for both Wii U and 3DS, selling 10k and 27k each, respectively. On the software side, the Wii U only had Mario Kart 8 (with 23k units sold), and Kamen Rider (with 7k units sold, and new released), while the 3DS had Taiko drum Master: bla bla bla (with 53k units, and new release), Yokai Watch (with 29k units), Pokemon Art Academy (15k units), Persona Q (7k units), and just a few more (all below 7k units).
  • Project CARS is coming in November, by Bandai Namco!
  • Guacamelee Super Turbo Championship Edition (awesome title) footage, and file size!
  • Here's something cool: a comparison between Armillo before and after the delay! (just a pic though)
  • A Tomodachi Life demo was released today!
  • Free DLC is coming to One Piece: Unlimited World Red in Europe.
  • IGN ran a interview with Reggie, and they talked about Mario Kart 8's future (which IMO confirms DLC ), the failed momentum on Wii U, and some kind of solution of the software droughts.
  • Now this was a good day.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Yokai Watch 2 Direct introduces train travel, action multiplayer mode, more
Anticipated 3DS sequel out next Thursday in Japan.

Level-5 boss Akihiro Hino hosted a Yokai Watch 2: Ganso and Honke-focused Nintendo Direct this morning.

Yokai Watch 2‘s story involves traveling back in time to discover the secrets behind the birth of the “Yokai Watch,” the watch that Keita wears in the game. You’ll end up in the Sakura New Town of 60 years past and meet a Dekanyan and mysterious young boy who resembles Keita.

In the original Yokai Watch, there was a train station that players could visit, but you couldn’t go past the ticket gate. But inYokai Watch 2, players will be able to take the train to new areas, like a distant port town or village. When you take the train, you’ll be able to enjoy the scenery outside as the train heads towards its destination, and the route map is displayed on the lower screen as the train moves.

In the video, we see Keita and his ghost pals visit the port town of Nagisaki, which features a number of boats, a beach, and a cave. Keita also travels to Kemamoto Village, which is filled with paddy fields, cattle, and water mills. There, players can forget the bustle of the city and enjoy a more relaxed atmosphere.

Within each station, players can find stamps to collect for the “Sakura Railway Stamp Rally.” In order to collect every stamp, players must visit a number of different stations.

A number of mini-games and side activities are also shown, including bike racing, pole climbing, Whimsy Gates, Bulletin Boards, Fox Marital Processions, and more.

Towards the end of the clip (22:38), you’ll get a first look at the game’s new action-based multiplayer mode “Yokai Watch Busters” at work, where up to four players can become yokai and cooperate to defeat demons running about Sakura New Town.

In addition to all of this, the Direct introduces a variety of new yokai set to appear in the sequel, including Matenshi, Onigiri Samurai, Machigaeru, Kantetsu, Ittan Gomen, Akaname, Zashikiwarashi, Kudan, and others.

Watch the full video below. Yokai Watch 2 will launch for 3DS in both Ganso and Honke versions next Thursday, July 10 in Japan.

That thing will fly off the shelves. Hopefully it will drive sales.
