3DS News: February 18, 2014

  • Western game devs are not interested in the 3DS.
  • Bravely Default and Retro City Rampage are leading on the US eShop
  • The Year of Luigi ends on March 18. That's suspiciously specific, and is a couple days short of the one-year anniversary of Dark Moon.
  • Sega is splitting Atlus and Index. Also, TIL that Atlus only has 121 employees.
  • Get Star Fox 64 3D for $20. Sale ends around 1:00 AM EST.
  • Over 11.4 million people have viewed Twitch Plays Pokemon, and over 88,000 people are playing at this moment. And now there's a new Anarchy vs. Democracy paradigm, in which people vote on how to control the game.
  • I'm looking to do a Let's Play with the input of the VGChartz community. Any suggestions for a Game Boy, Game Boy Color, or Game Boy Advance game I can do with VGChartz input? No Pokemon Nuzlocke Runs please! Though I'm not opposed to challenge runs in general. Like maybe a Red Mage solo run in Final Fantasy 1...

Third parties know they're inferior to Nintendo. Nintendo's greatest strenght is also its greatest weakness.

Wii U news of 18/02/2014:

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

A Red Mage run sounds pretty cool. How about maybe Golden Sun? That's always good fun to watch

Hey guys, I have some important news.

It has long been rumored that Kenji Yamamoto (the man behind the remixes and music from DKC Returns) was helping David Wise with the soundtrack for Tropical Freeze. Now that I just finished the game, I saw in the credits that only Wise was composer. Yamamoto was only mentioned later in the credits, as an audio engineer or something.

That means everything you hear in Tropical Freeze is David Wise! Kenji Yamamoto didn't have anything to do with the soundtrack. Except for the DKCR flying barrel stage music which Wise has done many fantastic full remixes of here. Look forward to the soundtrack, it's one of my favorite parts of the game.

Yep.

That's pretty cool. I do hope the soundtrack is as good as you claim though!

FAST Racing Neo is Shin'en's "largest project so far"

Was the poll rigged or something like that? The last Nintendo Direct doesn't deserve a 1... a 7 or a 6 was more appropiate. It didn't suck that much...

Nah I think the trolls have got in to it, or someone clicked one a lot of times.

7 seems about right. Everyone waits forever for one, then immediately call it rubbish.
