How important is resolution? (TV, ranging from 720 to 1080)

Essential. 1080p vs 720p is huge. 172 42.68%

Important. Resolution over effects. 44 10.92%

It's a minor plus, I rat... 128 31.76%

Non-issue, I don't see a difference. 58 14.39%

Total:402

With all this drama over the resolution differences between PS4 and X1, I wanna know what the VGC community really thinks. Please vote honestly.

In my case, I have a 75" screen (HD projector) about 2.5m away from my eyes, so the difference is huge. I rather have better resolution than better graphics, or I might have to reduce the screen size.

But, when I had a 32" TV 3m away from me I honestly coudn't tell much of a difference, so I'm not sure this will affect, like, 80% of people. My opinion might have been different two years ago.

How about you?

I have two 32 inch 720p HDTVs and plan on upgrading the one in the living room to a 50-60 inch 1080p. So soon I will be able to let u know if it makes a difference to me.

Depends:

On my Gaming-PC: Very important. I have a 1080p 24'' screen and sitting only like 0.5m away I think that even that is pixelated and so I plan to buy a 1440p 27'' screen at some point.

With consoles: I'm sitting ~3m away from a 42''-TV and can't notice any difference between 720p and 1080p. Even 540p is hard to distinguish from 720p.
But: Nextgen consoles will be there for a while, and I will most likely get a bigger screen or a HMD at some point during their lifecycles. So I hope that there at least won't be any rendering resolutions below 720p this time.

I game on a 52" flat panel and a 110" projector. Resolution is a major deal to me. I can not wait to see Uncharted in full clear crisp 1080p. The blurry 720p images will hoepfully be a thing of the past.

I have a 24" I mostly play on but also have a 42" in my bedroom. Originally the plan was to play MP on the monitor and SP on the TV.... It didn't work out!

I still care though but the games I'm buying are going to be in 1080p or at least 900p anyway.

I always want the best possible image. I'm even fucking tweaking the TVs image options, to optimise for the best possible result.
So yeah it is quite a big deal, I'm happy my console of choice has the best versions of games, if it would be opposite though? I wouldn't probably change to Xbox for it.

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

I game on a 40 inch Samsung LCD tv approx. 2.5 metres away and even though I wouldn't say it is a deal braker I do think that after a generation that has lasted some 8 years that it is reasonable to expect native 1080p graphics on consoles.

I have also been gaming in 1080p on my pc sitting 0.5 metres away since 2008 so I would definitely like to consign my 720p gaming to a thing of the past.

Obviously the bigger the TV the more noticable upscaling becomes as opposed to native resolution so it depends on the situation but overall the goal should definitely be to have 1080p native if possible on the next gen consoles.

i have a 55' TV so its important, and why i jumped on blu-ray right at start with ps3.

And what important its resolution/price, if i buy a 2000$ computer i want all the best, if i buy a 400$ console i want good, but i understant too this wont be the best ever, but i can not accepte to pay more for less like xbox one now, BUT when price cute comming or kinect less comming , i will buy this console too for fable and some other exlusivity.

very much. since Ive been stuck in the shitty 720 on ps3 forever. 1080 or bust.

I don't care about resolution. I don't care about the inches of my TV. The only thing I care is about playing some goddamn games!

But I admit that I like a lot the drama that this resolution is bringing. I like drama .
