No matter what side you're on, Sony is the king of commercials and that goes all the way back to the 90's. Kevin Butler pretty much brought the PS3 back to life by himself.

The general consensus on the net is that Microsoft is far better at marketing.

I thought wat prayformojo said was a joke at first but I think he was serious.

No, even on this forum, whether it was true or false, people pretty much agreed that Sony's PS3 advertising sucked until Kevin Butler appeared.  No, I don't thing he brought the PS3 back by himself.  That's a bit of hyperbole.  He did mark a turn around in their marketing of the PS3, though.  I do admit that I liked Sony's "Do You Want It/Ladies and Gentlemen" commercials.  They got me hyped up.

*edit*

I looked at it wrong.  PrayForMojo (nice Simpsons reference) was saying that Sony was king of commercials since the 90's.  Can't agree with that at all.

Oh, unless I'm reading something wrong, he said there was no gameplay footage in the Xbox One commercial. I think he's wrong.....

Good add I wonder what kind of adds they will have for the US market as the one posted is clearly for the UK and Ireland.

Clearly you either don't remember the PS1/PS2 days, or your biased because NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING was hyped and advertised as well as the PS2 leading up to it's launch. Everyone and their unborn child knew what it was and wanted one.

Plus, like I said...Kevin Butler. Dude was so amazing, his character even made it to an E3 presentation.

it will be the ad for the worldwide campaign. and except for the part with gerrard why do you think it was clearly for uk and ireland?

what i can think about is that they will split this ad in the different parts and show as example  only the part with the zombie and put some gameplay to it in a walking dead episode. the gerrard part will be shown between football matches and so on...

well, that's what i could think of.

btw will be shown first time today in sunday night football match.

They certainly were for the Xbox360... while Sony were terrible at the start of PS3 (baby advert.. what?).

I think Sony is doing better right now in terms of coverage and message, while MS's new advert is a step in the right direction, but their printed marketing at the moment is awful.

Making an indie game : Dead of Day!

Are we really dissecting marketing strategies now? Jesus Christ.

I've never heard of this site, but they must be desperate for hits. I mean, who gives a fuck!?

I am the Playstation Avenger.

Can you link me to one of these awesome PS2 ads?  I was going crazy trying to get a PS2 on day one and couldn't because it was so in demand but, for the life of me, I can't remember any PS2 ad ever being on TV except for an obscure Playstation 9 ( I think that was the number) ad during pro wrestling.  If I recall, the PS2's launch was hyped by the gaming community, demo consoles, and magazines at the time.
