As long as it doesn't take hours, now one will care. It's only 300MB, so I can't see it taking longer than a few minutes. Will see though. If it stumbles out of the gate, you will certainly hear about it.

Part of the reason is that the Wii U update took a long time but also that the Wii U was very large considering the capacity of the basis Wii U version at the time. From memory, downloading the update would take up half the hard drive space the Wii U had available. Compare this with 300mb update for the ps4 and a hdd of 500GB (dont have a clue about the X1).

The issue as far as I can tell with the Wii U was that the update took forever. Just wait for the fallout when the update fails due to overloaded servers

The PS4 update is tiny and will probably take 5 min. That's probably why.

I got my on launch day and the update took maybe 30 minutes to an hour.
As others have said, some people need reasons to justify their hate. Doesn't matter if their console of choice does it as well. What matters is its a reason to hate.
Also remember how Wii U wasn't next gen because it got ports. Now PS4 is getting ports but people do not claim its not next gen. Of course I don't know how people acted on this site. I was on N4G at the time and they love to hate anything Nintendo.

I believe the Wii U update only got criticized mainly because it took a lot of people a long time to download it. The servers were overloaded & the update itself was pretty large, maybe ~700MB-1GB or something like that?

If the Xbox One or PS4 updates take as long I'm sure there will be plenty of complaints.
