Forums - Gaming - Why does Microsoft and Sony get a free pass?

That may be so... but he is also saying a lot of people here are massive hypocrites... which is also true.

And how is doing so serving any purpose?

Welcome to humanity. Is all I can say about this. Creating a thread solely to point out how people complained about his console of choice, but not about the other 2... Why not go directly to the people he remembers doing it and ask them the question? The way he put it, is like he's pointing finger at the whole community, when we all know only a select number of users here do that kind of tinted glass-wearing kind of moronic complaints and trolling. Those people haven't yet evolved passed a mental age of 18 years old... Funny fact, most people don't until they're near their 40s.

Nothing we can do about it. And making a thread to generalise the issue like the OP did certainly isn't helping. There's an agenda here, and it stinks. Try to spread positivity instead. The results are so much faster.

Suddenly it all makes sense, as does some people questioning the need for this thread.

Oh why am I not surprised by the responses in this thread? This is like a play, every goddamn time. Remade by Hollywood every year

You shouldn't be surprised, which is exactly what my post you quoted says.

You can't escape the double standards.

The worst troll post was someone that claims themselves an informed gamer, apparently bought the console, yet all they posted was misinformation from the size of the update to the time to download.

Complained about the lack of day 1 games and then sold it a week later apparently. An intelligent person wouldn't have bought the console day 1 if this were the case.

Sony has been ripped a part all generation for long update times. Xbox gets a way with it a little more because they are usually fast.

However XBO was ripped a part about the update originally and I would say that XBO in general takes way more flack than WiiU has.

Sony does get a free pass on much more than the other two though.

The way I see it, the Wii U is getting shit because Nintendo messed its messaging. And the console isn't selling. The XBO got crap for its reveal, which I agree was deserved. Messaging was crap, nobody can deny that. But things turned around, so people are now pleased with the offer. Sony didn't get much shit because so far their messaging has been consistent.

But when it comes to online updates... My guess is that the PS4 and XBO aren't being crapped on for day one updates because most people want those consoles, compared to the Wii U. They're both really hot items, and people have been waiting for them for quite a long time now. They just want to get it already. A one hour update isn't much, when you finally have the console sitting under your TV.

What I mean is that it's mostly the people who aren't interested in the console that shit on the others (Hint: that's probably why I don't shit on any of them, even if I'm Sony biased. :P). In any case, if most people would be interested in the Wii U, there would be less trolling about it. People like to justify their appreciation and/or hate for something with unreasonable self-convincing.

I didn't get the Wii U at launch, so maybe it was worse by then. But when I did, the initial required update time was far from unbearable.

Yeah XBO def got crap for the reveal, though the update was to fix the big complaint.  It was a disaster and that im sure as you said very few people would disagree.

I was one of the people who complained about the WiiU update as I bought it at launch.  I complained about it just like i do with PS3 updates because it was ridiculously long.  At the time my internet wasnt that fast, about 2mb (Though i rarely got that speed) and it took around 4 hours for it to update.  I was really looking forward to playing it but waiting four hours just killed it for me.

This is one reason im very glad that XBO and PS4 can do updates in the background this time around.  However if either the PS4 or XBO updates take me 4 hours ill complain about them too.  XBO was estimated to be 40 minutes though if im remembering correctly, which still is pretty long because Ive never had an update take that long on X360.

I haven't really been paying attention to what is going on with those two consoles and I honestly can't bother looking up info about them.

but as always it is wrong when Nintendoes it but not when others do it

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

Where are all the negative threads about the DAY ONE updates for the PS4 and XBOX ONE?

Remember when Wii U had one it was deemed to be unacceptable practice by Nintendo by a lot of users on these forums.

Just saying..

Because WiiU OS was complete garbage and somehow managed to be even worse than PS3's back in 2006?

While PS4's/Xbone's OS will fast and smooth from day 1?

I think at this point in video game history, it kinda feels "normal" that consoles come with a required day one update. The alternative to that would be that the console makers push the release date further. I'll take a one hour update over that.

People have higher expectations from Nintendo.

It is near the end of the end....
