Forums - Gaming - Pre-launch Interest In Sony PS4 Is Twice Higher Than Xbox One

What do we blame? Microsoft? the world for being in between the two places? languages? I assume you would know how to market to Japs. Japs are a weird bunch and sony and nintendo has a clear advantage being rooted in america and Japan. No matter what microsoft does Japs simply DO NOT WANT.

It's kind of a mystery why xbox can do well in othr places but not even be looked at as a legit system in Japan. Maybe they don't respect american tech. They are admittedly a brilliant bunch.

Easiest guess is to say they would rather stick to their own. It does help their economy, Why buy a foreign product that does the same things as one produced in your own land? If I lived there I probably wouldn't buy an xbox either.

Of course we blame Microsoft! It was their product and they wanted to sell it in Japan but failed and just accusing all of the japanese gaming community of not wanting to buy american products because they are american is not only ignorant, it's plain racist.

Also I don't know how to effectively market to japanese people, but you know who might have clue about that? The people that have made other western products successful in Japan, like McDonalds or Apple or maybe you know japanese people might know a thing or two about the matter as well.

Yeah, japanese have different tastes, but they are not automatically ignoring a product just becase it's not local, so maybe Microsoft should have redesigned the 360 in Japan or give it another name or change the marketing as a whole over there but they didn't do that.

What they definitely don't need though is our pity because the "xenophobic japs" didn't buy their very western product, it's their fault and they need to do something about it if they wish to change it in the coming generation.

the PS4 costs R$4000 in brazil (thats 1800$).

I read somewhere that this was a hype rumor or will be shortlived.  I'm excited for opening day PS4 but who would ever pay that much?  Is it for real?  Is it just because their currency is totally f'ed right now or what?

nothing wrong with the currency. something terrible with the country's poiticians.

I cannot wait for the launches and see some hard sales data finally on these two in the coming months. Fun times on VGChartz.

it will be great. whats amazing is that meltdowns will happen however sales go, so we are guranteed some quality entertaiment.

Really?  I can only see one or scenario where that will happen.  Its pretty much accepted and expected than the PS4 wins by 2:1 absolute minimum in the launch window isnt it? .... or are we doing some front end softening on the the expectation already, just in case?

no, i think you've pretty much got the monopoly on that...

I disagree. This site was full of psoters claiming 3, 4 and 5 to 1 in sales ratios, domination, wiping the floor with etc etc.  it was common place.  The we had silly polls from around the web where it was 9 to 1 and people immediately translated this to sales and declared it a walkover before they even hit the street.  Please dont try and deny this happened.  Its not that long ago.

Here on this site you are a marked man. It would be best for you to just post and ignore most responses to you in my opinion.

At this point I doubt if there is anything microsoft can do to sway the Japanese audience. Too much focus on that market can have negative effects on the american market at the same time not gaining any ground in Japan would be what most likely would happen. American loyalty is fickle compared to Japanese.

Side note, Americans might generally prefer the manly feel of the xbox controller compared to the light feminine feel of the ps3 controller. Gat to take into account that Japanese people are on average smaller structured than americans so the sony controllers probably are more comfortable for them.

^Yes that's me ripping it up in the GIF. :)

At launch both systems will sell every unit produced. On top of that these gens are years, not a few weeks. Heck if my memory is correct the Vita had a better launch than the 3DS. Did that mean anything in the long run?

Nope.

Pre-launch interest is of course good, but it's such a small factor in the grand scheme of things.

Second half of the penultimate paragrpaph sums it up well. Early adopters are fans...

Who knew Playstation had more vociferous and loyal fans that will jump in early? Shocker.

The long game is very different.

true and the last 3 gens show how well Sony plays the long game

Get Your Portable ID!Lord of Ratchet and Clank

Duke of Playstation Plus

Warden of Platformers

It sounds like Xbox One is gaining some momentum. A few months ago, about 19 in every 20 gamers preferred PS4. And now I'm being told that only 2 in every 3 gamers prefer PS4?
