What do we blame? Microsoft? the world for being in between the two places? languages? I assume you would know how to market to Japs. Japs are a weird bunch and sony and nintendo has a clear advantage being rooted in america and Japan. No matter what microsoft does Japs simply DO NOT WANT.

It's kind of a mystery why xbox can do well in othr places but not even be looked at as a legit system in Japan. Maybe they don't respect american tech. They are admittedly a brilliant bunch.

Easiest guess is to say they would rather stick to their own. It does help their economy, Why buy a foreign product that does the same things as one produced in your own land? If I lived there I probably wouldn't buy an xbox either.

Of course we blame Microsoft! It was their product and they wanted to sell it in Japan but failed and just accusing all of the japanese gaming community of not wanting to buy american products because they are american is not only ignorant, it's plain racist.

Also I don't know how to effectively market to japanese people, but you know who might have clue about that? The people that have made other western products successful in Japan, like McDonalds or Apple or maybe you know japanese people might know a thing or two about the matter as well.

Yeah, japanese have different tastes, but they are not automatically ignoring a product just becase it's not local, so maybe Microsoft should have redesigned the 360 in Japan or give it another name or change the marketing as a whole over there but they didn't do that.

What they definitely don't need though is our pity because the "xenophobic japs" didn't buy their very western product, it's their fault and they need to do something about it if they wish to change it in the coming generation.
