Well, noone knows until it is announced for PS4 so who cares really? The interesting thing, and the real testament to how strong a game it seems to be, is how many PS fans seem to want this game :).

In here, I don't see that many PlayStation fans that want it, to be honest. They just have a feeling that it will be coming to PS4.

Yeah honestly I don't have any desire to get it at this point.  It looks too much like COD to me, and I am not seeing anything new.   But if it gets crazy high reviews, I will give it a try on PC...

I'm not in denial here. Titanfall looks like a fun-ass game. It just goes to show how fun Call of Duty once was, when it was new. Titanfall is naturally the evolution of Call of Duty. Whether it becomes a yearly installment that grows old and tiresome is yet to be determined, but until then, I really want to play Titanfall.

I'm sure there are some Ps4 only games that Xbone buyers will want to play as well. Just as current gen. I'm still a HUGE Halo fan (except 4's multiplayer), and Gears of War was pretty decent (original). Oh and Left 4 dead is amazing (although on PC). Holy fuck I love Halo...

Anyway, my money is on timed exclusive because of EA. Or they could pull a Mass effect and put the inevitable sequel on Ps4.

Until then, Xbone owners enjoy Titanfall. It looks fun as shiiiiit! :D

Currently own:

  • Ps4

Currently playing: Witcher 3, Walking Dead S1/2, GTA5, Dying Light, Tomb Raider Remaster, MGS Ground Zeros

taking this and others with a grain of salt ill believe it when i see it

wheres dead rising 1 for ps3 what about gears of war and left for dead

                                                                      Play Me

I wonder when the PS4 version comes out if it will have any bonus content etc......

In addition to Dead Rising, there were a number of games that launched for the 360 prior to the PS3's release that never made the jump. Sony just couldn't convince most companies at the time that it was worth the effort to port up a game for a $600 console that was receiving a lot of negative press and having trouble selling. It's important to note that most, if not all, of those games eventually had sequels that were on the PS3. Epic Games said in an interview back in 2011 that they actually wanted Gears of War on multiple platforms but Microsoft made it worth their while to stay exclusive the whole time. Left 4 Dead, well I can't say why that never made the jump but I know for a time Gabe Newell had a rather nasty opinion of Sony when the first one dropped. At the end of the day though, this is EA we're talking about. They're not going to make truly exclusive titles unless they don't think there is much money to be made on another platform. The PS4 is a big deal. They're not going to pass that up. Major Nelson had a chance to devastate the rumors by saying it is completely exclusive. He didn't. In fact, he gave a relatively evasive answer. That is very suspicious.

Wonder how well it will run without the cloud though. On the bright side the PS4 version might come with millions of dlc titans, skins and maps included.

LOL it will run just fine!  In fact when it comes out on PS4 running just as well, if not better:  We can all have a good laugh at "The Power of The Cloud" BS...

"Blast processing"

"Wonder Book"

Are you guys saying that this game will run on dedicated servers including the AI another other stuff processing on those servers or are you saying the game will play just as well if not better doing P2P on the PS4??

We're saying even the PS2 had dedicated servers.  FYI MAG on the PS3 has 256 players on dedicated servers with exactly ZERO lag.  "The Cloud" is just marketing hype man.  Any console can have cloud servers and Sony just bought an entirely cloud based company...

Of course any game can have dedicated servers, the key is how many and at what capacity.  Also we are not talking about First party but 3rd party games.  So just wanted to put things in perspective, do you think Sony will fund dedicated servers for Titanfall and if not do you think EA will.  Also if neither fund dedicated servers for Titanfall and it becomes a important resource on the X1 platform do you think P2P will cut it for the PS4.

Also Gaikai cannot be leverage in this space as the type of service it does is Saas and not Paas.  The difference between the 2 is not as simple as some might think.

If the game is a big enough deal the company making it will do what they have to in order to get it to the platforms they want it on and in some cases the company will prefer to run their own. A lot of Xbox fans were smirking when it was revealed that the X1 version of CoD: Ghosts would have dedicated servers and they thought that it meant their version was superior. That the PS4 version would lack such server support. Now we know that the PS4 version will also have them. So it seems that Activision didn't care if the PS4 was lacking "300,000 servers". Do you honestly believe EA will NOT run its own servers for Titanfall for PS4 if it has to? Ofcourse they will. PS4 is going to be a huge deal worldwide.  The "Power of the Cloud" has yet to be displayed despite all the claims. We have not actually seen a single example of how Microsoft's cloud computing platform made something possible on the X1 that would have been impossible without it and required the large investment. It really has been all promises up to this point.

First I believe you have to understand the type of developer we are talking about.  Respawn is not a large developer with huge capital that can just run their own servers.  They pretty much stated this during the first reveal of Titanfall.  Dedicated servers are a cost and this was mentioned by Respawn that the cost is what they eat not EA.  I believe people forget that this is EA partners that Respawn is using which is a different type of publishing relationship.  This is not an EA game, its a Respawn game where EA is the publisher.  Who knows what cost EA or even Respawn will eat to provide the same level of service for Titanfall on other platforms.  Its already been reported that the 360 version will not use dedicaed servers.  The only reason the PC version is usinng dedicated servers is because Respawn is using MS servers to host the game for the PC.

As for COD Ghost, we know that MS is providing dedicated servers for their system but I am not 100% sure about the other platforms.  This statement stands out to be something on the same level as what Killzone is doing.

""Dedicated servers will be used on current gen, next gen and PC with Ghosts. And, in order to make sure that people have the best possible experience regardless of platform, location or connection, Ghosts will be using a hybrid system of dedicated servers and listen servers. So no matter where you are the game will always be trying to give you the best online performance possible."

Its not real clear if dedicated servers are going to be used for actual hosting of games code and logic or just a hub like this statement from the GG on KZ dedicated servers.

"Killzone: Shadow Fall has dedicated servers hosted in various regions around the world. These servers do not run the logic of the game – they only act as a hub between the clients, forwarding network traffic from one player in game to all other players in game. This allows people with a slower connection or strict firewall settings to play without issues. Almost all logic relating to you (e.g. moving, shooting and taking damage) runs on your local PS4, with only a very small portion of the game logic (i.e. mission/scoring logic) running on the ‘session master’, one PS4 in the game selected for its connection quality."

There seems to be some play on words which would be nice if the COD developers would come clean like the GG devs but I guess we will see when the game release how things shape up.

As for MS cloud, well the generation hasn't started yet.  Who know s the impact until we see more commitment by MS and other developers to use this resource.

So simply because games in the past have been timed exclusives means this game will be? that's the dumbest logic ive ever heard.  Theres also plwnty that have not been.

EA has more control over this game than you seem to believe. They will be getting a lot, probably even most, of the cash from the sales of this game and I can assure you they have heavy, if not full, authority over it. They will want it to be completely multiplatform ASAP. The "it's possible" answers from Respawn, EA reaffirming their commitment to being a multiplatform company when asked about the exclusivity, the picture with suspiciously blurred out areas, credible insiders on GAF saying it's not exclusive, Major Nelson giving an evasive answer and avoiding calling it exclusive when he could have delivered a huge blow....the writing on the wall is in the process of being written. Every company involved would have to play this very politically. I have no doubt that MS would have a heavy NDA in place for a game that is receiving so much attention if it is indeed a timed exclusive. I'm not even going to go into CoD's servers because I've heard that little number before and I'm damn sure not going to bother with the limitations on cloud computing. I'll just say it's not nearly what many people seem to think it will be.

I'm expecting 6 months.

Atto Suggests...:

Book - Malazan Book of the Fallen series

Game - Metro Last Light

TV - Deadwood

Music - Forest Swords

Actually I have no clue and neither do anyone here how much control EA has on Titanfall or Respawn.  Its anyone guess what type of deal Vince and Jason made with EA but I would bet that its not what most people would think.  Do not forget that Vince and Jason left EA for difference of opinion.  Since Vince and Jason  were highly sought after when they were let go from Activision, I highly doubt that they would put themselves under an agreement that did not give them freedon to do what they want with their IP no matter who they signed with.  Here is a statement from Vince and Jason when they formed Respawn adter giving EA publishing rights.

""We're excited," added Jason West, President of Respawn Entertainment. "Now that the team is in control of the games and brands, we can ensure that the fans are treated as well as they deserve."

There seems to be an assumption that EA owns Titanfall but that is not the case.  No one really knows the arrangment between EA and Respawn and what it took EA to win that publishing deal.  If people remember when Respawn was formed here is a blub from that whole deal.

"

  • Then the bomb detonated: EA announced the formation of Respawn Entertainment from Zampella and West, also adding it was “awarded” full publishing and distribution rights to the developer’s first title via EA Partners. Respawn will maintain full control of whatever IPs it creates.

"

Full Control of your IP means a lot and it means that Respawn can do what they like with Titanfall.  Yes, EA is the publishers but saying that EA makes the decisions I believe is not understanding where Vince and Jason are coming from.  IF Respawn want the game on the PS4 which they might or might not who knows, it will happen but if they do not, I believe it might not make it.  Only time will tell how that shape up.

I am making the case that anything can happen and there is no lock that this game will see the light on any other systems then what was announce.  There seems to be this perception that EA is in control but the reality might be different and EA partners is not the same as EA being the publishers of their internal studios.  EA wanted Vince and Jason bad and the whole thing blew up because those 2 were looking to leave Activision and were talking with EA for more control of their IP, company direction and total control of what they make.  Something tells me that got that deal.
