EA has more control over this game than you seem to believe. They will be getting a lot, probably even most, of the cash from the sales of this game and I can assure you they have heavy, if not full, authority over it. They will want it to be completely multiplatform ASAP. The "it's possible" answers from Respawn, EA reaffirming their commitment to being a multiplatform company when asked about the exclusivity, the picture with suspiciously blurred out areas, credible insiders on GAF saying it's not exclusive, Major Nelson giving an evasive answer and avoiding calling it exclusive when he could have delivered a huge blow....the writing on the wall is in the process of being written. Every company involved would have to play this very politically. I have no doubt that MS would have a heavy NDA in place for a game that is receiving so much attention if it is indeed a timed exclusive. I'm not even going to go into CoD's servers because I've heard that little number before and I'm damn sure not going to bother with the limitations on cloud computing. I'll just say it's not nearly what many people seem to think it will be.

Actually I have no clue and neither do anyone here how much control EA has on Titanfall or Respawn.  Its anyone guess what type of deal Vince and Jason made with EA but I would bet that its not what most people would think.  Do not forget that Vince and Jason left EA for difference of opinion.  Since Vince and Jason  were highly sought after when they were let go from Activision, I highly doubt that they would put themselves under an agreement that did not give them freedon to do what they want with their IP no matter who they signed with.  Here is a statement from Vince and Jason when they formed Respawn adter giving EA publishing rights.

""We're excited," added Jason West, President of Respawn Entertainment. "Now that the team is in control of the games and brands, we can ensure that the fans are treated as well as they deserve."

There seems to be an assumption that EA owns Titanfall but that is not the case.  No one really knows the arrangment between EA and Respawn and what it took EA to win that publishing deal.  If people remember when Respawn was formed here is a blub from that whole deal.

"

  • Then the bomb detonated: EA announced the formation of Respawn Entertainment from Zampella and West, also adding it was “awarded” full publishing and distribution rights to the developer’s first title via EA Partners. Respawn will maintain full control of whatever IPs it creates.

"

Full Control of your IP means a lot and it means that Respawn can do what they like with Titanfall.  Yes, EA is the publishers but saying that EA makes the decisions I believe is not understanding where Vince and Jason are coming from.  IF Respawn want the game on the PS4 which they might or might not who knows, it will happen but if they do not, I believe it might not make it.  Only time will tell how that shape up.

Interesting. Nice find. However, again, this is EA. They will push for it and they will do what they can if they think it will bring a lot of money in return. For the reasons I pointed out, it seems something isn't quite what certain people want us to believe. As you said, time will tell. I have a feeling that by E3 next year, we'll know what's going on if anything.

I agree that EA will push for the game to be on all platforms if they can.  I also believe that Respawn is very small and tight dev who probably main focus right now will be the PC and X1 version because that is all they can handle.  IF EA wants to have another dev do the PS4 and even PS3 port they coudl fund that one like they are doing with the 360 version.  Nothing is impossible, its just the commitment that EA want to put into a game which they do not own.

Personally if Respawn is not doing the port I would not be keen on that version.  My experience when another developers port a game to another platform which is not done by the main developer has not been a stellar experience.

Definitely agree. I'm getting it on PC but if I found out that it wasn't Respawn working on a PS4 version, I would definitely tell my friends to be cautious.

Again do you really think Sony cannot provide ample servers?  They own an entire server company and have countless games that run on dedicated servers (Far more than on 360).

No one said Sony can't provide servers. The type of cloud based, ready on a whim loads of bandwidth servers MS can provide? The onus is on Sony to prove they can, there is no evidence to suggest as such. And idk why you keep bringing up Gaikai, they are entirely irrelevant when it comes to Azure and the cloudy goodness it supplies to the Xbox One.

And yeah, Sony did offer dedicated servers on PS3. More than MS did on 360. Not sure what that has to do with the cloud servers and access on Titanfall though.

As I have mentioned many times, a lot of people do not understand the different types of cloud services and most believe they are all the same.  Its hard to discuss such issues when people do not take the time to inform themselves.  Its to the level where if someone mention Gaikai in the same sentence as Azure, you almost have to dismiss the comment.  The 2 platforms are not even close in concept, scope or scale.  If anyone is believe that Sony can just flip a switch and change Gaikai into a Paas (Platform as a service), they really need to do some research.

When some of the biggest companies in the world (Apple and Samsung) use MS cloud service for their products you have to take notice.  I will definitely state that I do not believe Sony can deliver dedicated servers for every 3rd party developer for the PS4.  For one of Sony's biggest games which is Killzone SF, Sony is not doing dedicated servers.  If that doesn't speak volumns I do not know what does.

So NOW people want to believe what alleged PR puppet Major Nelson says ...

W!

probably 3-4 years down the line with no cloud support

Did you know ps4 only supports a 2.4 wireless signal?

The xbox one supports a wireless adapter capable of 2.4 - 5.0ghz.

The ONLY next gen console to do so.

Doesn't need cloud; the system is powerful enough on its own, and that sword wouldn't really do much for online play.
