This is just PR BS. Gamestop, being the Worlds largest Video Game centric store gives an entirely different image. Every single Gamestop has been given a larger PS4 allocation than XBone. The difference is most often twice as much or even in some regions 3 times. If we say that every gamestop has PS4(x2) vs XBone(x) at bare minimum it is literally impossible for them to have more pre-orders. You can say "well pre-orders do not always lead to direct sales" which would be true but that ratio of loss works for both. If only 80% of all pre-orders come thru day one that still leads to PS4 outselling Xbone.
Now this disparity is probably mostly attributed to the fact Sony can simply churn out more consoles than MS at the moment, and to a slightly lesser extent it being more popular. I find it very interesting that the PS4 has such a huge lead on PreOrders in US specifically. This is MS territory and if they lose that....Game over for them ever taking a lead. Not surprising tho. US market has been predicated on the "Good Enough" version for some time now. Its partly why PS2 was so successful, and why 360 triumphed over PS3 in US. They will go for whats cheapest but still maintains edge.
