Yeah, I have one user in mind who is here just to trash MS and mainly only posts MS Windows related threads vs Google ... completely irrelevent to gaming.

It's just in bad taste generally though.

It realistically wwon't happen until Msft or the xbox gets a lot more fans.  Given the current sales predictions for the xb1 sales as not being too good, I don't think that msft fans will dominate the boards.  Thetefore if somebody wants to post a negative article there, it's just fine.

There are over 13,000 subscribers to the Xbox One subreddit on Reddit.  The fact that there are so few here has nothing to do with how many fans there are of the Xbox 360 or Xbox One, it's that we as a fan base here have to deal with people that make being here unenjoyable.

How you can compare two consoles, which are almost even in terms of unit sales, and say one community is larger than the other is beyond me.  That seems to suggest an uncanny bias on your part.

...but they're not.

Btw, mods, what are the odds of getting vgchartz to divulge where they get their sales data from?

Very Good.

I hope this leads to moderation of posters and NOT the locking of threads that people don't like. You cant allow a group of posters to become a censorship committee.

You were moderated for the thread, not because of the reactions of other posters. The thread on its own was lock-worthy.

No, I was moderated because I reacted to some posters who decided THEY would derail a thread they didn't like. It was locked because it became unmanageable due to exactly what this thread is about. Shame you aren't privy to my wall, you are so far off its hilarious. You are displaying exactly the behaviour they are talking about. The thread was perfectly fine, no hyperbole, no sensationalism, no sly digs, just a thread with a video that later was a story on lots of sites. I'm not sorry your pals got banned, but deal with it better.  If you think that thread was ban worthy then your lack of comment or intervention on numerous previous threads is telling. Thanks.

Aw, I missed all the action and I can't access your profile. Will you please give me a link to the locked thread?

Can i c it too? Thank you for the shoutout in that other thread btw.

The dawn of a new generation can be stressful times. Tensions can often rise between users of different allegiances. This phenomena has recently generated a rise in what I would call the “shoot the messenger” attitude and it’s been ruining a lot of the discussion some people are trying to have.

In case you don’t know what I’m referring to, I’m talking about someone posting a thread containing negative news about a company and then being called out by several users supporting that company for trying to trash/undermine their console manufacturer of choice. Which, in turn, prompts users supporting the other company to underline the times when the roles were reversed.

This is the kind of behavior that has to stop. Those “calling out” comments bring nothing to the discussion, derail the thread and contribute to a poisonous atmosphere in the forums which is why, they will be moderated from now on.

I know what you’re thinking right now, you’re going: “Are the mods so naive as to believe that nobody posts bad news about the rival company just to watch the opposed fanbase rage?” Of course not, we know full well that sometimes information gets posted for malicious purposes but when those flamebaiting topics are posted, calling the OP out in the thread only fulfills their evil plans as they feed on the chaos and bitterness they’ve created (that *may* be a bit overdramatic but you get the point).

The correct way to handle that situation is to report the post/thread, telling us why you thinking the topic submitted was made solely to get a rise out of users. Signs of a flamebait thread include but are not limited to: adding a gloating or taunting comment at the end of the article, posting irrelevant information (ex.: news from a year ago), plain false information or magnifying a small issue in order to make things seem worst than they really are.

Another point I want to make is: just because someone openly favors a company in particular that doesn’t mean he or she(she? who am I kidding?) can’t post a negative topic about the rival company. As long as they stick to the facts and don’t use the thread to antagonize people it is fine.

My biggest complaint against some users here is that they go out of the OP. They either purposely derail the main subject to show fanboyism or they are not intelligent enough. Do you have any warning for these people?

The Kowenicki thread was pure flamebait. I don't think it was intentional on his end but if he chose a more accurate thread title which more closely associated with the OP I don't think he would have encountered the problems. The reactions were expected. That doesn't excuse the way the others acted. The right way to act would have just pointed out how it was flamebait and that it needed to be changed (which I did).

/thread

PS: How Tuscan didn't get banned in that thread after derailing it even further, calling out "the defense force" (yeah we know what he was saying), then acknowledging the post was flamebait/off topic/bannable is beyond me. Especially when considering that others in the thread were moderated for the exact same thing

This post is exactly why this thread exists. There is no "good" or "bad" side. And you are pointing out users here. Man, these console wars...

So, in my case, in the Selnor thread. Maybe i started wrong saying things that should have been said in the report button, but I didn't insist on it, i even said that i didn't want to fight for it, then i posted something on topic about the subject, i was trying to move on and then Kowen became after me and started bullyng me after everything i said.

I admited my fault, and some people should do the same if they want to be respected....

This is the kind of stuff they discuss at those "Mod Sexy Parties"?

I think we need to start assessing it on a relevance basis.  Current news articles relating to gaming are fine, even if they're just one piece of bad news after another; but dredging up stuff from months ago just to post something negative or having a completely unrelative article may be things we have to start clamping down on.

Yeah, I have one user in mind who is here just to trash MS and mainly only posts MS Windows related threads vs Google ... completely irrelevent to gaming.

Fact is at one point soon you're gonna be permabanned anyway, so evidently it isn't fine.

Oh thtop being so thenthative (with lisp).

I didn't bully you. I asked you to think about how you would have posted the same thing. I resent the use of the word bully.

Excuse me, not bully, you only pursued me the rest of the thread. You basically insisted in my original post when i said that i didn't want say anyomore about this (to avoid a problem that i shouldn't have started). If I derailed the topic at first (my fault), then you insisting derailing after. That's what i was saying.

And what really annoys me, it's that i assume i've become classified as a sony agent with an agenda of destroying topics about the competition. That's not true, i talk way more critical about sony than other companies. I didn't liked the new commercial of ps4, i didn't like how knack looks, and before i saw that selnor thread, i posted in the original thread about DC delay, that i thought it was a disappointment and a mistake by sony. So after that i see a thread that i inmediately consider a flamebait (because in my opinion it was clearly a flamebait thread) and i made the mistake of saying that, because,  it was no other than Selnor, the same poster that a few days earlier tried something honorable trying to make Microsoft post civilisided because there was a lot of sony fanboys that like to troll a lot. And then he post that thread with that title, and using selective fanboys quotes to ignite an obvious discussion.
