Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Sonic Lost World - Review Score List

come on you guys, really? "Oh, I bet it's still good", and "reviewers don't know what they're talking about"?

Sonic games haven't really been good since the trilogy on the Sega Genesis, with the exception of the Adventure Battle games and maaaaaaaybe generations/colors. This game sucking should not be a surprise to anyone.

I was going to buy it, as my brother is a huge fan of the series, but with reviews like this, I'll save my money.

My Console Library:

PS5, Switch, XSX

PS4, PS3, PS2, PS1, WiiU, Wii, GCN, N64 SNES, XBO, 360

3DS, DS, GBA, Vita, PSP, Android

Got the game today and completed the first two zones (four levels per zone). The controls have the usual awkward 3D Sonic feel to them, so it takes some time to get used to the forward/sidewards movement, as well as the new moves. Got a game over in a level with automatic forward movement because of that. That level would have been suited more to putting Sonic on rails for higher precision; as it is, it's easy to steer a little bit too much or less and thus fall off or hit a wall.

What else? My copy has either no or almost silent voice acting during cutscenes. I'll switch to English and see if the problem persists, the German voices are pretty bad anyway (so a bugged copy kinda feels like a positive point). The game also froze once.

Anyway, first impression is that it is easy to dislike the game, because it doesn't click right away. So it's like most 3D Sonic games; or all of them, depending on how you feel about them.

One more thing: To all the people who pushed the idea that Sonic Lost World > Super Mario 3D World at one point or another, you are idiots. But I guess you know that already since the most recent SM3DW trailer.

Still waiting for my copy of the game to arrive. Bought it for 35€ but now I feel a bit worried because of the reviews. (would obviously feel worse if the game would have been 50-60€)

On the other hand I bought it to support Sega bit because I was expecting a 90%+ game (Gimme some Skies of Arcadia 2 or whatever !!!)

The game's getting smashed. The hell, what went wrong!? I'm still going to get it but some of the negatives are indeed worrying.

This is the first game ever i see with scores going from 2/10 to 9/10 just what the actual fuck!? --Does not compute--

The low scores seem to be complaining of difficulty, so that can't really be too bad of a thing on the whole

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

"GameInformer: 5/10 (50%)
Last generation’s Sonic Generations and Sonic Colors were both poor attempts to fuse 2D and 3D platforming, and it’s sad to see Sonic Team fail to improve following those stumbling points. Lost World’s obvious inspiration from Super Mario Galaxy appeared to be a step in the right direction, but the core game is sub-par even by Sonic’s standards."

It is funny to read such a scathing review and think, "From that perspective the game sounds great!" I really do think reviewers and I simply get different experiences from Sonic games as I loved Generations and Colors and never really got the whole "Sonic is crap" meme with the exception of Sonic 2006.

All you people that buy these mediocre Sonic games based on some sort of delusional nostalgia are the reason they keep being mediocre...Here's an idea Sega, take a year off, even two, and develop ONE Sonic game and make it half way decent, then release it.

Sonic colours is a good game, not perfect by any means but a great sonic title!!!!

I haven't tried this game but awful level design has been the reason previous 3D Sonic games have been difficult.

Jim Sterling gave it a 7,5 that is enough for me, day 2 !
