Also, a lot of people seem to be confused about what Pokémon X and Y are, hence why they didn't rush out to buy either version and a 2DS/3DS along with it. X and Y don't sound like they are new games, rather it gives people the impression that these are just placeholders. You know, like event X will happen on day Y. That sort of thing. Perhaps people will buy a 3DS once the actual new Pokémon games come out (or rather when they realize that X and Y are those games).


If it was just one game yeah but its two so I don't think there would be confusion.

seriously though I think VGchartz is grasping at straws when it comes to the Pokemon launch (they said 5.5 mil first day then Nintendo comes with 4mill in 2 days? that shows they have little idea of what's actually going on). I'm not sure why this particular launch has them so thrown - don't get me wrong the numbers aren't always the most accurate but are usually a good indicator, they just seem to be completely wrong around Pokemon.

Guys, it doesn't matter that X and Y had only one day of sales. Clearly that didn't stop its software numbers from massively eclipsing those of Luigi's Mansion and Animal Crossing; why would it affect its hardware boost?

100% agree, also i dont believe everybody who got XY owned a 3ds yet, i mean come on! i heard/seen people buying a 3ds for pokemon alone! Guess wen NPD comes i'll be bragging i told others they were wrong! (better brag to dengle)

Brag to me?? I was the one who pointed out the 3DS was probably undertracked in the first place! XP

And that was before NPD numbers were leaked.

That was probably supposed to read "better brag too, dengle". But, you know, tbone51 is ESL. Or like I would say: ESeL.

It probably is under tracked- VGChartz just isn't as accurate as it used to be.

The fact that Japan didn't have a significant hardware push, it's likely that US fell victim to the same thing. I went to a local walmart on Saturday night and there were still 3DS's in stock, no "empty" shelves or anything (I counted 8). Fact is, the majority of people who bought Pokemon already have a 3DS, why is that hard to believe?

going to one store doesn't back up why it sold lower. 3DS has been undertracked ever month in US by over 30k at least (Sept looks like maybe over 60k) so my arguement makes sense dont you think? Pokemon had over 1mil sales while luigi mansion2/AC new leaf had less than 400k FW but had higher 3DS sales? Yeah right. wait intill next NPD and 3DS might be undertracked by another 50k-80k.

 

At least i have 5 months of undertracked to supprt this thread
