The fact that Japan didn't have a significant hardware push, it's likely that US fell victim to the same thing. I went to a local walmart on Saturday night and there were still 3DS's in stock, no "empty" shelves or anything (I counted 8). Fact is, the majority of people who bought Pokemon already have a 3DS, why is that hard to believe?
