Forums - Nintendo - 3DS has 73k Week of Pokemon XY? No Way, Sales Must Be.....

The fact that Japan didn't have a significant hardware push, it's likely that US fell victim to the same thing. I went to a local walmart on Saturday night and there were still 3DS's in stock, no "empty" shelves or anything (I counted 8). Fact is, the majority of people who bought Pokemon already have a 3DS, why is that hard to believe?

Sales jumped by 80k this week in Japan because of Pokemon. And that's while they were still pretty high in the wake of Monster Hunter's release. That sales would jump by only 30k in the US is unlikely.

going to one store doesn't back up why it sold lower. 3DS has been undertracked ever month in US by over 30k at least (Sept looks like maybe over 60k) so my arguement makes sense dont you think? Pokemon had over 1mil sales while luigi mansion2/AC new leaf had less than 400k FW but had higher 3DS sales? Yeah right. wait intill next NPD and 3DS might be undertracked by another 50k-80k.

At least i have 5 months of undertracked to supprt this thread

Dude calm down, you seem a bit irritated. I never said that it was definitely as low as 73K, I was just pointing out that Pokemon probably didn't do amazingly well to move hardware in NA since it didn't even do amazingly well even in Pokemon country (Japan). I do find it strange that 73K was all it did, considering how the 2DS also released. But, what were you expecting exactly? How about you predict what the October NPD will show? D/P release month had 471K DS systems in April 2007, and B/W's release of March 2011 had 460K DS systems sold. Can 3DS push at least 400K at all in October to at least be in the vicinity of the hardware sales that D/P and B/W moved?

It's your fault for relying on this site for factual information about hardware sales.

Just 1 day of sales and the Limited Edition consoles where on sales weeks before hand. Im not saying the number isnt undertracked but I doubt its by much

Well it looks like it sold about 200k in September, and even by VGChartz's most likely undertracked numbers, it sold more than double its previous week with Pokemon's release.

So yes, I'll go on record saying 400k for October is possible.

If I had to guess, they probably overcompensated in reducing the hardware after their initial 5.5m day one turned out to be incorrect.

lol, that would be funny! "3ds has 300k..... you kno wat 73k"

I think 95k-130k is more understandable, VGC has undertracked 3ds for 5 months now in US! Im almost 100% these numbers are way too low!

You're confusing your streaks. The 3DS has led the US in hardware sales for 5 consecutive months now, but it was not undertracked every one of them. I think I remember VGC actually being pretty much spot-on in August. Maybe in July, too.

One of the most infamously bad months for 3DS tracking was this February.

because anecdotal evidence is not cold hard fact

Looks like u were right tbone, 3DS was adjusted up 20k in America
