If you're concerned about the sheer amount of games, go 3DS. There are plenty of games and upcoming games will be announced. Wii U will be going through gaming droughts.

If you want to play new top flight games sooner rather then later I recommend the 3DS.

If you can wait or just want to mess with Miiverse or more virtual console classics, the Wii U.

get either or both...they both have some great games out and they both have great games coming soon. I don't think you can really go wrong with either right now

Get the WiiU and a 2DS.

Also, your 3DS list has no Luigi's Mansion on it. Fail.

Get a 3DS. You should buy a Wii U down the line too, but right now, 3DS has the best first and third party support. Also, the lack of third party games on your list is disturbing. For the 3DS, I'd recommend looking for Shinobi, Ace Combat, RE Revelations, Sonic Generations, DoA Dimensions, Tales of the Abyss, SSFIV 3D and Castlevania MoF. On the Wii U side, my recommendations are Zombi U, Rayman Legends and... well, that's it.

Both are decent and capable machines. Both....

I'll tell you what you are wrong in thinking.  You're wrong about limiting yourself to overrated exclusives.

I'd say get the 3DS, and while you pick up games like Pokemon, also purchase games like Shin Megami Tensei 4, Etrian Odyssey 4, Cave Story 3D(if you can find it,) and others.  Nintendo  games aren't the only games on Nintendo consoles and despite what you may have heard, there are better games.  Though when I say they're overrated that's not saying they're not good, they're just not as good as you see people make them out to be.

There are also a lot of very good regular DS games, so if you don't own a DS, then use your new 3DS to acquire a large library of great exclusives.  The Wii U can play Wii games, but the amount of them compared to what's on the DS isn't even close.  It's like searching for a dozen needles in a very large haystack when it comes to good Wii exclusives. 

So you can get a Wii U and a 3DS XL for £300, BARGAIN!!. I know you are a Playstation gamer, but thats cheaper than a PS4. If you have Wii U and 3DS like myself, then you have the ultimate gaming experience. :)

If i had to choose between the two it would have to be Wii U..Windwaker, Pikmin3, Wonderful 101, NSMBU, Zombi U, Rayman Legends make it an essential purchase alone, and upcoming multiplats like Arkham origins, Watchdogs and COD ghosts only compliment the library more.

I think you should get a WiiU.'
But Pokemon is very fun so you may want an XL.

Really I'd wait for a new XL model to drop. Like a Monster Hunter or a Zelda LInk Between Worlds one

First one WiiU model is selling for that price? Get a black one or wait for a bundle.

Anyway. Make sure you buy TW101. The demo on the eshop  just throws you in the game so its a bit disorienting at first but you can use it to practice the combos and the flow of the game (controlling one giant moving organism to fight) But you dont have all the skills available to you in the demo. Really I'd rent the game first and see if you like it after 3 days ( of playing the game. Not allowed to put it down after an hour ._.)
