The bolded didn't excite me too much, somehow... and actually the last one is back in action, as a F2P online game... http://www.intomobile.com/2013/09/25/nosgoth-legacy-kain-goes-online-free-play/
I dunno... a company struggling for money ressurecting old IP's... Fear effect, that's going way back =P
I think people glossed over the article and misunderstand what's going on here.
Correct *me* if I'm wrong.
SE is helping independent developers make their game ideas a reality. Developers pitch ideas, the gamers vote on which ideas are the best, and then SE puts the "best" games up for crowd funding. Assuming the project gets the necessary funds, the developer will create the title and SE will provide the marketing and publishing.
This seems like a great outlet for developers to get their games rolling. Maybe you like Kickstarter better. Maybe you hate crowd funding in general. But to me this appears to be SE just trying to open new doors for game development.

I think most of us here see a lazy way for SE to be a gatekeeper and to see and snatch up some indie developed games before other publishers sees them on kickstarter or indiegogo.. and after all is done reap the easy rewards for publishing it under the SE name.. it also saves them money having their own teams for creating smaller games..

Maybe we should fund a FF 7 remake? or perhaps bring back some of square's old games.
It's Kickstarter..but SE have the final say in what gets approved...but SE don't actually fund the games....but SE get a slice of the profits.

I honestly saw this coming. I just kind of expected it'd take another year or three.
